Work experience

Fox Chapel Publishing

Jan, 2019 — Present

As Marketing Copywriter, I'm responsible for writing the back cover copy for every book we print. I also write product descriptions, consumer emails, landing pages, sell sheets, ads, headers for retail displays, and any other copy needs other departments request. Our books range from crafts, quilting, and sewing to woodworking, home improvement, gardening, and cooking, which keeps my job fast-paced, interesting, and inspiring. It's even what sparked my love for embroidery! I love being a part of the book industry and look forward to seeing where it goes from here.

Self-employed

Dec, 2014 — Present

I was supposed to be a high school English teacher, but instead, I moved to Thailand.

After seven months away, I came home and decided to follow my passions and my skills to make a career for myself I would love. I started on Elance, then quickly left Elance, and now I find my work through the connections I make and the people I meet! I've been extremely lucky in finding one author who has become my mentor, as everything she writes is everything I need to read: Monika Kanokova. I've worked with her on all three of her published guides for freelancers, and am looking forward to helping more authors deliver their messages!

Primitives by Kathy

Sep, 2017 — Jan, 2019 (over 1 year)

A Content Writer in the Marketing department responsible for product copy, both for own website and the websites of Key Account partners (Bed, Bath & Beyond, Nordtrom, Hautelook, Hallmark, etc.). I also write copy for and proofread all print and digital catalogs. Nothing beats holding your polished work in your hands (am I right?). From time to time, I write blog posts to be featured on our website as well.

South Moon Under

Sep, 2015 — Aug, 2017 (almost 2 years)

E-commerce copywriter for all product inventory for a fashion website, in addition to uploading all copy and images to the website, building emails, troubleshooting... I could go on, but I'll spare you the nitty gritty duties and details.
