Writer with over twelve years of experience in the public policy field. My work has included a focus on some of the toughest issues facing the international community today: poverty, social and economic inequality, terrorism and violent extremism, migration and urbanisation.
Currently living in New York City, by way of Australia, I have spent my career advising senior officials and other counterparts on these and other diverse topics. I write policy briefs, background papers, speeches and research essays for government and international organizations, and also write for a broader, public audience.
I offer well-crafted written products that combine excellent research and in-depth analysis of diverse public and social issues, in order to explain the bigger picture and to identify potential policy solutions. My written work has helped inform Cabinet submissions to the Australian Government, proposals to the executive leadership of the United Nations (UN), and multilateral negotiations amongst governments.

International Organization for Migration
- Lead IOM’s advocacy on intergovernmental negotiations related to South-South
Cooperation among developing economies. Organize workshops and panel discussions.
Develop position papers and background briefs for internal and external audiences.
- Lobby governments on behalf of IOM.
- Publish articles and serve as external liaison and representation on migration and
development.
- Prepare briefings and reports for meetings of interest to the Organization, including those
of the UN General Assembly, Security Council, Second Committee, various commissions,
informal consultations among UN Member States, and operational interagency meetings.
- Provide research and strategic analysis and develop recommendations on a range of issues
of interest to the Organization, including relations with the UN.
Department of Immigration and Citizenship
- Supervised the development of a research and evaluation program.
- Prepared in-depth research reports and policy analysis on humanitarian settlement,
migration and development, border management, and regional migration.
- Monitored and assessed emerging domestic and international social, political and economic
trends in order to provide advice on strategic policy and research priorities.
- Prepared and coordinated departmental inputs to major government initiatives, including
the White Paper on Australia in the Asian Century.
Attorney-General's Department
- Researched terrorist motivations and recruitment, and identified the indicators of
radicalization.
- Developed project plans and implementation strategies, and drafted strategic policy
planning documents on CVE.
- Collaborated on the establishment of a work program and initiatives on Australia’s national
approach to CVE.
- Assessed applications for a youth mentoring grants program.
Department of Immigration and Citizenship
- Identified function, focus, and priorities of newly-formed unit.
- Wrote strategic policy papers on population, migration and development and Australia’s
visa system.
- Prepared policy advice and discussion papers for departmental executives and the Minister
for Immigration.
- Conducted environmental scans and research to identify future migration trends and
possible policy issues.
- Worked with external research institutes to facilitate commissioned research projects.
Australian Agency for International Development (AusAID)
- Made recommendations to Australian Government on proposed UN resolutions.
- Wrote talking points for Ministers on Millennium Development Goals.
- Revised guidelines for funding AusAID’s Human Rights Small Grants Scheme.
- Represented AusAID at meetings with international and domestic partners.
Department of Immigration and Citizenship
- Researched comparative models for policy and innovation units.
- Oversaw the revision of the Department’s policy on returns and removals.
- Developed training for Pacific Island countries on passport and document examination.
