I started out writing and editing newsletters for the medical field, then for film industry trade journals. A stint at in advertising taught me copywriting, then back to magazines and newsletters for nonprofit organizations.
I opened my freelance writing and editing company Easy Writer Productions while raising my family. I wrote again for the film industry and became fascinated with the screenplay art form.Writing to such tight formats was excellent discipline. I completed 15 scripts with some success. The process taught me the skill of writing deep story, which I applied to writing my own fiction novels soon after.
But I recognized my calling when I secured a job as Senior Book Editor for a publishing house specializing in stock market trading and wealth management. I loved digging into the long form, helping my authors pare and parse their books into streamline machines.
I have a knack for uploading large amounts of information, seeing how all the pieces can dovetail and backtrack to build depth into the manuscript; depth that gives the reader an understanding of the material, so that they can first apply it in the real world, and then use it to evolve their own knowledge.
I ghostwrote three books for the publishers primary author, and did substantive editing for several others. An earthquake knocked me out of that job when the building collapsed. I quickly landed a job producing training materials for a fiber optics firm, only to have Nine-Eleven knock me out of that job.
It as divine timing as I needed a hiatus for several years to deal with family priorities. Still, I picked up couple of book ghostwriting projects for the financial industry and business leadership. The one for Wiley Publishing, became a New York Times Best-Seller, so that was nice. The family priorities ebbed and I moved to Las Vegas.
Now I’m ready again to ply my trade and hone my craft.
I’m looking for some interesting projects I can help develop. While my background is in the world of finance, I find I want to write life stories – our adventures through life’s chaos, through challenges and triumphs, through lessons and loss.
Truly, I am a storyteller, turning the events of our past into heart-felt, sacred stories.
Do you want to talk more about that idea?
