Overview

I'm a longtime professional book editor and designer with experience in both fiction and nonfiction.

For fiction, I specialize in fantasy, science fiction, alternate history, and cross-genre work (that is, sf/f/wtf).

In nonfiction, I specialize in self-help and self-improvement, psychology, social sciences, and business and management topics, where I can use my postgraduate degree in business psychology to help you make the most of your book.

I've worked in both established publishing houses and startups, and I've served as managing editor for several national magazines, so I can help you navigate all aspects of the publishing process from starting your outline to successfully launching your book!

Although I specialize in working with boutique publishers where I can provide hands-on coaching and work one-on-one with authors, I've also worked with a range of publishers from the very small to the very large. Past projects have been published with presses such as Macmillan, Elsevier, Oxford University Press, University of Texas Press, University of Illinois Press, Brill, Wolters Kluwer, SAGE Publications, Berkshire Publishing, Candlemark & Gleam, TCK Publishing, Alban Lake, Hunt Press, Doc Fantastique, Book Smugglers Publishing, and more.

I love working with both new and established authors to hone their voice, develop their personal style, and polish their stories to a sheen. I do both deep developmental editing and lighter line or copy editing, depending on your needs, and I thrive on creating an open working dialogue where we can dig in to make your book the best it can be.

I also provide query reviews, editorial overviews without edits (basically, an edit letter recommending where you might want to dig deeper or revise, without actual line-by-line edits), and holistic "book coaching" services that can help you learn more about the publishing process whether you choose to self-publish or go traditional.

As a trained performance psychologist, my book coaching goes beyond doing basic line edits and helping you find a good cover artist into helping you develop better writing habits and work-life balance, creating the kind of systems and strategies that can propel you, your books, and your career to the next level.
