Janet Angelo has more than a decade of experience as a freelance editor and is the founder, editor, and publisher of IndieGo Publishing.
IndieGo Publishing is the brainchild of Janet Angelo, a longtime book editor who has edited solely for independent authors since 2005. Yes, that’s me! I founded my company in 2011 as a natural outgrowth of my commitment to help authors achieve their publishing goals and dreams after editing their books. I have many repeat clients who love my collaborative approach and open communication style. Many authors bring me repeat business, for which I am truly thankful. But book publishing is only part of what I do. My main income and first love will always be editing because I love perfecting story arcs, character development, plots, and all the details, large and small, that comprise a well-edited book.
Thank you for considering me for the treasured role of being your book editor. Many authors have told me that I’m the best editor they’ve ever worked with, and several have given me repeat business. Because of my extensive experience as an editor — thirteen years and hundreds of books — I have the unique ability to catch small errors while solving big-picture problems such as plot holes and weak character development. I am naturally intuitive at understanding what an author is struggling to say. Authors often tell me that my notes spark new ideas and help them determine exactly how to improve troublesome sections of their books.
Since 2005, I have edited 450+ books, fiction and nonfiction, for independent authors. I have also edited hundreds of academic dissertations and theses, as well as scholarly journal articles. I love working collaboratively with authors to make their books the best they can be.
My experience as a freelance editor is unique because I have solely edited books by independent authors, which is why I understand their needs so well. Many freelance editors only go freelance because they've lost their positions in the traditional publishing industry, and they will always have the trad-pub mindset. I truly understand the challenges and joys that independent authors experience, and I am uniquely positioned to partner with them to develop their books from rough-draft manuscripts to perfectly edited, designed, and published books.
I truly enjoy perfecting the written word, designing beautiful books, and helping authors achieve their publishing goals.
