Ailithir McGill

Ailithir McGill – Designer

An illustrator and artist, I'm looking to team up with writers who want their words to come alive in vibrant, engaging images.

Overview

I am a professional illustrator, specializing in wildlife and whimzy. I especially enjoy illustrating children's literature or articles about science and nature. I can also create memorable cover art. My artwork begins life as a conventional pencil sketch, which I embellish with ink, watercolors, pastels and other media, then scan and tweak to make the perfect digital file for your project.

Work experience

Self-employed

Jan, 2017 — Present

I created my own company in 2017 and published my own version of "The Owl and the Pussycat Went to Sea," featuring the poetry of Edward Lear with my illustrations. I have also created art for book covers, painted family portraits, designed wedding invitations and certificates, and created promotional materials like postcards and t-shirts.

Nickel Plate Arts, Inc.

Oct, 2012 — Present

I am the director of a non-profit community arts organization in Central Indiana devoted to lifting up artists and uniting arts efforts in 5 towns. I am responsible for the organization's finances, fundraising, estrategic planning and overall operations. Through this role, I have had the opportunity to meet and collaborate with hundreds of artists and gained invaluable experience in executing artistic projects on time and on budget.

Conner Prairie Interactive History Park

Nov, 2010 — Oct, 2012 (almost 2 years)

I worked at this world-class museum for over a decade, ending my time there as the Director of Interpretation. During my tenure as director, I led many story-telling projects, including "The Prairietown Adventure," an interactive, daily experience that was structured like a role-playing game. I led the research team that tested the game, developed the activities and props, and created most of the illustrations for the project.
