Overview

I work both traditionally and digitally to create my whimsical illustrations. My work has a strong sense of lighting, naturalistic colors and dynamic compositions. I'm inspired by wildlife, children and the environments they reside in. I use this inspiration to add a layer of realism to my illustrations.

My illustration journey began at Dawson College where I earned an associates degree in Illustration and Design. Shortly after, I decided to further my education at Sheridan College, where I received my Bachelor degree of Illustration. In between and during my studies I have worked for a diverse range of publishing and editorial clients such as Kayak Children’s magazine, Inhabit Media and currently working with HEMMA Publication and Heinemann Education.

In the Sky at Nighttime

Laura Deal

In the sky at nighttime, the northern lights dance, a mother's song sways on the breeze, and a raven roosts atop a tall building, bathed in the light of the moon. This lyrical poem sends readers sailing through the Arctic night sky to see and hear the unique beauty of a Northern night.
