Sarah Cadorette

Sarah Cadorette – Editor

Editor who knows how to bring out a writer's best work, while uplifting your unique voice. I edit for clarity, content, vibrancy, and style.

Overview

Editor. Writer. Professor. ESL Teacher.
Everyday hero? Maybe. Ready to work hard to bring out the best in your writing? Absolutely.

I love working with clients to understand what they want their work to do, from form to function to feel, and then make that a reality. I am adept at taking a piece of writing, finding the hidden gem, and dusting away the rest to let it shine--all while maintaining and honing your voice.

I've worked on scholarly texts, coming-of-age novels, LGBTQ+ narratives, poetry, humor, and more. Whatever your project, I'm ready to collaborate with you on it!

And I promise that, no matter where your writing is, I've read worse.

Work experience

Self-employed

Mar, 2019 — Present

I have worked for a wide range of clients who are seeking a range of editorial services, to bring their work to a professional level for publication by outlets ranging from university presses to small presses. The work I've done for these clients includes:

Scholarly papers (including papers on psychology and cultural theory, and artist statements)
Copyediting and citation checks on book-length manuscripts
Developmental edits on drafts of book-length manuscripts

The book-length manuscripts I've worked on include novels, a book of haikus and haibuns, and a historical nonfiction manuscript of Japanese military history.

Merit Press

May, 2017 — Jul, 2017 (2 months)

I provided feedback for book-length manuscripts for a realistic YA imprint on continuity, plot and character development, and overall tone and style. My feedback was integral in making decisions on book purchasing.
