Overview
By the way, I love working on fiction, too. A novelist, I have been published by a major New York publisher, an award-winning independent and also chosen to independently publish. My editorial recommendations reflect not only experience with the craft of writing, but also the business of publishing. I enjoy working with novices as well as experienced writers. I served on the mentoring panel of the Mystery Writers of America because I found it thrilling to encourage new talent and support writers with clear, useful advice.
These are my services:
(1) Basic Proofreading. This involves checking for spelling/homophones, grammar, punctuation, missing words, etc.
(2) Line Editing. Your manuscript will not only be proofread but also reviewed for verbiage, clarity, word choice and sentence structure, etc., with suggestions for improvement.(
3) Developmental Editing. In addition to the above, you'll receive detailed notes and empowering suggestions on content (storyline; pacing; character, dialogue, scene, and plot development). Do the scenes move the story forward? Should one scene be dropped and/or another added? Are the characters distinct, their goals clear? Does the manuscript include the tropes (standard themes or plot patterns) common to its genre? What can be done to make a strong manuscript even stronger?
