Overview

Hi! My name is Lisa, the owner of Quoth the Writer, L.L.C. It is where a writer's dreams become a published reality.

The main services I offer are editing, proofreading, writing, interior design work, marketing, and more. I don't have a particular genre I prefer as I've worked on fiction and non-fiction; however, I don't specialize in poetry, medical writing, or legal writing, so I will not work on those.

In the past, I worked with a graduate student. I edited her papers and she always got As! I always told her it was because of her being so smart and she always told me is was because of my editing.

Currently, I am working with a client who wants to republish her mentors book. There's also a plethora of other projects we're working on, including publishing a short story in a literary magazine. I have also worked with fellow writers, reading through/editing a story they've been working on and looking to publish.

What is it like to work with me? Well, honestly... I'm super easy-going! I take my work very seriously and I'll take your work just as seriously, but I will never rush you on something or degrade your work or anything like that. I'm respectful of my clients and their work. I'm fun-loving, I'm kind, I'm diligent. Like I said, I take my work seriously, which means I'm very thorough. It might take me some time to do a job, but that's because I'm making sure I'm not missing anything. I want to give my clients the best quality work I can give.

Work experience

Owner

Self-employed
December, 2018 – Present (over 4 years)

This is the business I started in 2018 because I realized I loved being in the publishing world. At first it started out as an editing and proofreading service, but thankfully it has grown to include writing, interior design work, marketing, and so much more.

Office Assistant

The Literary Review
September, 2006 – May, 2009 (over 2 years)

While studying creative writing at Fairleigh Dickinson University in Madison, NJ, I got the incredible opportunity to work for the school's literary journal, The Literary Review. It's where I found my love for the publishing industry.

I mainly did odd jobs like filing, making copies, sending out the latest issues to contributors, etc., but I also got to read through the master copy and sit on editing sessions with the editors. Also, during my internship, I got to edit an article by myself. The editor sat next to me for a bit, noticed I was doing well, and left me to finish it on my own.
