Lindsey Boldt – Editor

A supportive, passionate, and creative editor of award-winning fiction, poetry, and literary non-fiction.

Overview

I am the managing editor of Nightboat Books, an award-winning publisher of literary fiction, poetry, essays, and translation. I have over a decade's worth of experience editing fiction, poetry, essays, plays, and hybrid-genre writing. Whether its digging into the details, like tinkering with sentences to get the syntax just right, or zooming out to understand and clarify the big picture, I love helping authors communicate their passions, politics, and visionary views. As a writer and poet myself, I know how sensitive and vulnerable the process of sharing one's work can be, which is why I make it my priority to support authors throughout the editorial process with empathy and focus, so you feel both heard and inspired to push yourself further.

Some of the critically acclaimed and award-winning books I've had the privilege to work on include: Field Theories by Samiya Bashir, Slingshot by Cyrée Jarelle Johnson, Pet Sounds by Stephanie Young, Doomstead Days by Brian Teare, Invasive species by Marwa Helal, Surge by Etel Adnan, Nepantla: An Anthology of Queer Poets of Color, and many others.

Through my work as managing editor for two small press publishers, I have shepherded 100+ books and their authors through editorial, design, and production processes. I have extensive experience with developmental editing, copy editing, and proofreading, as well as writing publicity and marketing copy and managing editorial and production schedules. I know what it takes to get a book made and I'm pretty great at helping everyone have a good time doing it!
