Overview

Reviews (1)
I am an illustrator from the North of England.
I specialises in children's book illustration and had been published by some of the world's best regarded publishers in both the fiction and non-fiction sectors.
Her first two books, written by Natalia O'Hara, 'Hortense and the Shadow' (2017) and 'The Bandit Queen' (2018) were published by Penguin Random House with co-editions in 7 countries.
Hortense and the Shadow was long-listed for the Greenaway Award, the highest accolade in Children's book illustration. My next book is 'Madame Badobedah' (October 2019), written by Sophie Dahl and published by Walker books, and has so far been acquired in 4 territories.
I also has a love of non-fiction illustration, and have two further children's NF titles out in 2021 and 2022.

I have a keen eye for detail and colour and love to experiment with traditional materials. I adore developing funny and rich characters as much creating beautiful and evocative worlds for those characters to live in.
I work in traditional media including inks, gouache ad watercolour which I finish in photoshop.

As a child I loved reading fairytales, painting insects and listening to her grandmother’s stories. I studied Art and Illustration at Kingston University and then designed window displays and props for films.
I currently live in a converted church in Dublin with my partner, our cat Ida and assorted ghosts.

"Through the dark and wolfish woods, through the white and silent snow, lived a small girl called Hortense.Though kind and brave, she was sad as an owl because of one thing . . . Hortense hated her shadow."A beautifully illustrated dark fairy tale that will remind you of the fables you read as a child. A treasure not to be missed.
