Katey Abraham – Editor

Experienced traditional publishing editor branching into freelance. Interested in fantasy, romance, contemporary, adult & YA fiction.

Overview

Reading is my hobby, writing is my passion, and editing is the niche I can love professionally. From editing my peers' work to going into traditional publishing, I have edited poetry, short stories, tarot cards, mystical practice journals, and mystical handbooks. I've also done art class instructions, back cover copy, and introductions.

I am a person who enjoys meticulous proofreading and will thoroughly read a manuscript countless times to ensure there are no typos or errors gone missed. The boring, monotonous tasks that you don't want to do, send them my way and I will happily nerd out over the work.

My college career was focused on creative writing, so my ears are ready for listening to countless explanations of plot, theme, voice, character arc, etc. Some of my favorite books are The Love Hypothesis by Ali Hazelwood (excellent women-in-STEM, fake-dating, romantic comedy), I'll Give You the Sun by Jandy Nelson (beautiful coming-of-age, art representation, love & loss journey), and the A Darker Shade of Magic by V.E. Schwab trilogy (enveloping imagined world, dynamic magic system, and diverse love stories). Just to add a few honorable mentions, I am also a fan of authors Kristin Cashore, Penelope Douglass, Tate James, Sarah J. Maas, and Colleen Hoover.

If you're looking for an open-minded, 23-year-old, hard-working, passionate editor, please reach out. I support BIPOC and LGBTQIA+ authors, as well as authors who are simply passionate and enthusiastic about books and writing. I promise you my honest, constructive feedback in the stories you wish to tell.
