Overview

I recently critiqued award-winning manuscripts for the William Faulkner Society in New Orleans, where it struck me that I don't have a distinct genre preference when it comes to editing fiction. I’m all about jobs that are imaginative, challenging, and fun. In other words, when I go to work, I want to feel like a ten-year-old who’s jumped into the deep end of the swimming pool. Seriously, beyond knowing the rules of style, distilling the very best from every sentence, and working well under deadline pressure, I’ve a keen ability to nurture the voices of other novelists. As for nonfiction, I'm interested in wellness and how-to, and have a solid background in environmental and human rights books. That said, over the last fifteen years, I've also learned more than I should about maxillofacial surgery and the French Revolution. As it stands, I have fifteen years of experience and currently serve as one of Ingram Spark's editing experts. Full disclosure: albeit a diehard literary enthusiast, ridiculously fond of wordsmiths, plot, and scene setting, I am also a farmer. I grow echinacea and gigantic milkweed for the Medical University of South Carolina as well as hemp.
