Christine Bode

Christine Bode – Editor

I'm a professional freelance copyeditor with 15+ years of experience and over a decade in independent publishing of fiction and nonfiction.

Overview

As a freelance copy editor, line editor, and proofreader, I edit fiction and nonfiction, including memoirs, anthologies, poetry, children’s books, book proposals, website copy, press releases, blogs, and more. I also offer copyediting, line editing, proofreading services, manuscript review and website creation.

I understand how to create impact through written communication to engage readers, accessing the soul and spirit of your words and emphasizing them with uncommon magic. My mission is to help you present your best-written work to the world, ensuring your writing is as grammatically correct, precise and engaging as possible without changing your voice. Copy editors don’t write; they refine.

Bestselling independent fantasy author of The Drowned Kingdom Saga, P.L. Stuart, said, “I am extremely proud to have Christine Bode as my editor for my upcoming novel Lord and King. Her expedient and exceptional work made all the difference in turning my manuscript into a best-selling calibre work. Her editing services were comprehensive and included, among other valuable features, a development and line edit. Christine goes above and beyond, providing all the extras that make the final layout of the book so much easier for my publisher. Christine will be my editor for the rest of my seven-book series, and I couldn’t be happier! I can’t recommend Christine highly enough, and I am so grateful to be collaborating with her for my future novels! She’s simply a fabulous editor!”

Since 2012, I’ve been the senior copy editor for Publish and Promote, a small

Canadian publishing company that helps first-time and self-published authors realize their book publishing and marketing goals. I have provided their clients with editorial assessments, hosted an online presentation called How to Write a Book People Will Love—and Sell It!, and edited four dozen books for them to date. Two books were Amazon bestsellers, and one received the 2022 International Silver Medal Book Award (Readers Favorites) for nonfiction spirituality.

I use Microsoft WORD’s Track Changes, The Chicago Manual of Style as a

style guide, and Merriam-Webster as my dictionary. I will not hesitate to ask

you questions and leave comments, and I can provide you with a sample of my work.

A love of language has always influenced my life. I’ve been a voracious reader since age five and have read 1,000+ books. When I was fourteen, I wrote a novella and had my first poem published in 16 Magazine and Scholastic Book Services’ Rock’s Biggest Ten. I have also written e-books about social media marketing and published two poetry books. I am an excellent listener, read every day, and am hyper-aware of what first-class copy is.

A resilient empath with quirky interests like time travel, paranormal phenomena, energy vortexes, and gothic rock music, I never act my age and will always surprise you. My best qualities are kindness, patience and compassion.
