Benjamin Wright – Translator

Originally from the UK, I have lived in and around Barcelona for the past 20 years, making me trilingual in Catalan, Spanish and English. However, my working languages are Spanish/Catalan into English, as this is my mother tongue.
I have a master's degree in Translation Studies (UPF, Barcelona) and have been working professionally in the field for around three years. Although I specialize in literary translation (both fiction and non-fiction) and mainly work in this sector, in my day-to-day, I translate a large variety of texts, ranging from legal, to technical, to marketing-related and everything in between.
While I have yet to translate a full body of work, but have been collaborating regularly with Galaxia Gutenberg, a publisher based in Barcelona, for the past two years. Their foreign rights department commissions me to translate fragments of books they have already published in Spanish or Catalan (usually 10,000-15,000 words in total) into English, to send to other English publishers, or to showcase at the different book fairs they participate in around Europe.
I have also been involved, since December 2021, in an online erotic fiction platform. There are about 25 different narratives in total, all originally in Spanish, of which I am in charge of translating 5 into English. These chapters are released on a monthly basis.
Beyond translation, I have always been an avid reader and dabble here and there in creative writing. I regularly pen down my own poems and have had two short stories published in literary magazines.
