I'm a 27-year old artist hailing from the state of 10,000 lakes; we just call it Minnesota. As a kid I wanted to draw all of my favorite video game and anime characters - traces of which can still be found in my work today. I drew on my desk and all over homework assignments, and at the age of 14 I began animating.
After completing a few animations and working with coders to get some flash games made, I went to college for Media Arts and Animation. I was lucky enough to land an internship at Fantasy Flight Games in my senior year, and learned a great deal about graphic art while working on Warhammer DiscWars. Then I graduated in 2013 with my Bachelor's in that very field, and whilst many of my peers went on to work in agencies as motion designers, my heart always belonged to drawing, character design, illustration, and painting.
I followed that rhythmic organ in my chest, and in 2015 I was one of the 12 Illustrators from around the world to win the 31st L. Ron Hubbard Illustrators of the Future contest. I was flown to sunny California for a one-week intensive where I learned from some of the best in the creative industry. Lectures were given by Larry Elmore, Dave Dorman, Nathan Fowkes, and more. I felt so lucky to be able to bask in their insight and gain feedback for my work. I left with a renewed sense of artistic purpose, and I've used those lessons to the benefit of my clients ever since.
I've gotten to work in-studio on the TV Show True Monsters, and took the opportunity to do a few images for Mutant Chronicles by Modiphius. These are just some of the highlights of my burgeoning career.
I start by digesting the ideas as best I can, mulling them over and sometimes even meditating. Once I have a few mental pictures form, I begin sketching. When the sketches are appealing and readable, I send them to you. We usually discuss a few things and proceed with one or elements of each. Then the fun begins - bringing the final image to a fully-rendered state. I send you WIP updates along the way to make sure that things are proceeding properly. When we're both pleased with the final, we wrap, and you're the proud owner of a unique piece you won't be able to ascertain anywhere else.
