I am an editor and author coach, specialising in development editing of first draft manuscripts and science writing of all kinds.
Author Development - I regularly undertake a range of services from proofreading print-ready copy to development editing. I work closely with authors within their specifications and to their style. Repeat clients are a speciality and I have several clients for whom I have worked on multiple projects. Typically authors report that my input has supported them where they felt stymied and that clunky or lifeless text now flows. Building confidence and providing author support is a speciality.
Corporate - I have extensive STEM and legal compliance experience and I regularly undertake proofreading and development editing of commercial material including business, technical and scientific documents. I work with house styles and accreditation guidelines where required. I have worked for charities and accreditation bodies, including editing course materials for one of the leading UK project management training suppliers. Other projects include editing PhD theses, rewriting form letters, cover letters and CVs and editing materials for non-native English speakers (ESL) including academic and corporate materials.
I developed ongoing relationships with several clients, editing book manuscripts and coaching authors with autobiographies. I edited two scientific books on carnivorous plants, and edited science news and scientific papers for the Cochrane Library using their specialist software. I also wrote copy for press releases and websites. This was a part-time role in addition to my other full-time employment in publishing as an editor.
