Greetings! First of all, thank you for considering me as a resource for your project. The detail below should provide some useful background and help you make an informed decision.
During the daytime, I continue to ply my expertise in a decades-long telecommunications career. Business and other non-fiction publications are (and have been) a constant throughout my working life. Regardless of your audience, I'm confident that my editing and proofreading skills are up to the task.
Corporately, I've prepared and delivered documents, PowerPoint presentations and other media for audiences ranging up to C-level executives and board members. On the freelance side, I'm proud to have employed my proofreading skills for Angela Ackerman and Becca Puglisi of One Stop For Writers fame, working on several volumes in their writing thesaurus series.
I'm also an author and freelance writer. My desire to write fiction likely found its genesis in a childhood surrounded by books as diverse as Alfred Hitchcock Presents: The Three Investigators, the thrillers of Dick Francis and Alistair Maclean, the Gothic romance and danger of Daphne du Maurier's "Rebecca" and "Jamaica Inn," and the complex works of Ayn Rand. Spending my junior high school years in England, with plentiful side trips to Ireland and continental Europe, began a life of travel that includes more than ten years living and working in the Middle East, the setting of my debut story, "The Fire of Iblis."
Finally, I work hard to temper my OCD tendencies with just the right amount of pragmatism, which allows me to successfully balance the attention to detail required for editing and proofreading with the ability to meet client deadlines.
I provide professional proofreading and copy editing services for both fiction and non-fiction authors. Most of my work over the last few years has been in the action/adventure and fantasy genres. However, I am branching out into romance for a new client.
For each project, I complete thorough grammar, spelling, punctuation and other error checks. As needed by the client, I can (and do) offer rewrite suggestions, thoughts on continuity improvement, fact-checking (depending on genre), and a final, critical eye, which is crucial to presenting my client's writing products in the best possible light.
I am proud to work regularly with Gryphonwood Press, and I am delighted to be part of the team that recently expanded the Writing Thesaurus library authored by Angela Ackerman and Becca Puglisi.
