Eloise Wood - Editor

London, United Kingdom

Copyeditor and proofreader with eight years' experience working at two major publishing houses. Specialising in commercial women's fiction.

Overview

Experienced editor with excellent project-management skills and exceptional attention to detail. I am a meticulous copyeditor and proofreader, and I enjoy building great relationships with authors and commissioning editors. I have eight years' strong editorial experience, having been Editor at Avon Books UK, HarperCollins and Senior Desk Editor at Pan Macmillan. I have worked with a number of high-profile authors including Joanna Trollope, Karen Swan, Lucy Diamond and Kate Morton.

‘Eloise is a great editor to work with. She provides detailed feedback as well as specific comments throughout the manuscript. No question from the author is too silly and she offers brilliant creative solutions and suggestions to fix any problem areas. I always felt that Eloise had my back and her input helped to make my book much stronger and a better read. Any author lucky enough to work with Eloise will find her both professional and sympathetic to the writer’s creative style. I can’t recommend her talents highly enough.’ Tracy Corbett, author of The Forget-Me-Not Flower Shop

‘I wholeheartedly recommend Eloise Wood as a copy-editor. She has done an incredibly thorough job on several of our HarperCollins books, with an excellent eye for detail and clear, organised notes. She has been an absolute pleasure to work with and has efficient, fast response times. The authors have been really pleased with her edits and she has gone above and beyond with her attention to the text.’ Phoebe Morgan, Editor, HarperCollins

Work experience

Editor, Avon Books UK

HarperCollins Publishers
February, 2016 – December, 2016 (10 months)

I was responsible for the entire ebook-first publishing schedule, and a large number of high-profile frontlist paperback books. I had responsibility for all elements of the publication process, including briefing covers, structurally editing the text, and writing the cover copy, as well as developing social media plans, and providing exceptional author care at all times. I also commissioned titles of my own in this role. I am meticulous when copyediting, proofreading and checking proofs, and take pride in setting the highest editorial standards.

Senior Desk Editor, Adult Publishing

Pan Macmillan
April, 2014 – February, 2016 (almost 2 years)

I project managed a large number of new titles across the Adult list, including all super-lead/big-brand titles and celebrity authors. I oversaw all elements, including plate sections and covers; liaised with editors, authors, Production and Design; and kept titles to schedule and on budget.
