Elizabeth Woabank

Elizabeth Woabank - Editor

London, United Kingdom

Developmental editor formerly with Bloomsbury and HarperCollins. I love working with authors to create books that people want to read.

Overview

I have more than 11 years of direct experience working closely with authors to create and craft bestselling fiction and non-fiction publications. I work on all types of books, but specialise in lifestyle, health, wellness, parenting, creative business and commercial fiction.

I really enjoy working collaboratively with writers to produce the best possible work, while providing hands-on advice and creative and visual direction.

Please do get in touch - whether you are looking for help articulating or tackling your writing project, need a sounding board for ideas for your initial draft, or would like a structural edit of a finished manuscript, I can work with you to devise a bespoke plan to help you revise and improve your work at whatever stage you are at in the publishing process.

Ways I can help you:

*Conceptualisation: I can help you understand your writing goals, flesh out your ideas and initial book concepts and hone in on what will make your book unique.

*Creative blocks (they happen to us all): I can help you shift up a gear to get moving on your project again.

*Making your book stand out: I can help you find the strength in your manuscript so it delivers - often a small tweak or the flipping of a concept is enough to transform your work.

*Market awareness: I can help you understand the audience you need to reach.

*Structure: I can help you structure and organise your knowledge so that your ideas fit together seamlessly to create a book that is properly positioned to reach your audience.

*Stylistic editing: I can help you find your ‘voice’, place your characters, provide suggestions on how to develop content, maximise on your brand, fix pacing issues, pick up on repetition and inconsistencies and tighten the flow of your manuscript.

*Publishing process: I can help you develop your pitch, review query letters and advise you on the next steps.

I am a busy freelance editor working with publishers, authors, brands and museums, including Bloomsbury, HarperCollins, the Natural History Museum and Canelo. Good books deserve to be read - I am adept at originating cross-platform content and developing book structures to meet the needs of the intended audience.
