Courtney Littler - Editor

Enthusiastic editor at a Big 5 publisher with 10+ years experience in fiction and nonfiction, with a flair for humor and women's interest

Overview

“She is too fond of books, and it has turned her brain.” – Louisa May Alcott

I'm a professional editor who has had many roles in the publishing world since my career began in 2005. As an editor at one of the Big 5 publishers, I shepherd books from concept to publication in diverse genres, with a particular skill in highly designed illustrated books and other nonfiction. I have a passion for irreverent humor, unique design elements, and unreliable narrators, as well as controversial themes and women-centric topics. If it makes me laugh, cry, or shake my fist at a cloud, I'm loving it.

I'm especially adept at editorial assessment because, as an industry insider, I have a unique perspective on what agents and publishers are looking for in a manuscript or proposal. As a developmental editor and freelance copy editor and proofreader, I've collaborated with a diverse range of high-profile authors, including legendary singers and Food Network stars, contributors to The New Yorker, and Twitter-famous personalities. Few things excite me more than discovering a shared passion for a topic or story and working with a writer to bring our combined vision to life.

Inside, you'll find thousands of ideas: dozens of stories, poems, diagrams, lists and cartoons, along with hundreds of jokes and approximations thereof. Is this the funniest book ever published? Well, that's very nice of you to suggest, but at least read it first. James Thomas, what wrote the book, i... read more
