Overview

During my time working in the New York publishing industry, I edited literary fiction and poetry for Soft Skull Press and edited essays and short fiction for Catapult’s online magazine. Before that, I got my start interning at Ugly Duckling Presse and A Public Space and working in bookstores like the Harvard Bookstore in Cambridge, MA and Printed Matter in New York, NY.

I have edited books that have won the Lambda Literary Award; been finalists for the Center for Fiction First Novel Prize, the PEN Open Book Award, the Northern California Golden Poppy Book Award, and the Goodreads Choice Award; received starred reviews from Kirkus, Publishers Weekly, and Foreword Reviews; and been praised by The New Yorker, Los Angeles Review of Books, NPR, Vulture, Bookforum, and The Nation, among others.

I edit full-length manuscripts, book proposals, short stories, and essays. I am drawn to literary fiction, nonfiction, poetry, memoir, and story collections, but am happy to work with authors writing in all genres. I love collaborating with writers at any stage of the process, whether they are seasoned authors or those new to writing and publishing, and can help with everything from big-picture manuscript evaluations to the most meticulous of line edits.

From my years spent working in publishing—reading countless query letters and manuscripts—I’ve gained a keen sense of the revisions necessary to make your writing stand out from the rest of the slush pile and get your project to its most polished, readable, and publishing-ready state.
