-Dear Mr. Henderson,
HOA Board President
I am filing a grievance against my neighbor, Mr. Arnick. He has a bird feeder and there are multiple birds that drop seeds and defecate on my lawn. The worst part is they are dive-bombing Harold, the squirrel I feed and he is not visiting me as often as he used to. Please have the birdfeeder removed as soon as possible. Thank you.

-Dear Board President Henderson,
I am filing a grievance against Mr. Rostler who lives next door to me. He has a pet squirrel, (which is an illegal pet!) and that squirrel keeps stealing seed from my bird feeder. This has caused deep distress to the birds that I feed and their nesting season is in danger. Please let me know how to remedy this awful situation. Thank you.

I am filing a grievance against my neighbor, Mr. Arnick. I walk the perimeter of my property every morning from 9:00-9:15. Mr. Arnick has a rose bush and one of the branches extends on my property. This morning, a thorn scratched my leg shortening my walk by 7 minutes. Please ask him to cut this branch so I can walk the full area of my property. Thank you!

-Dear Board President Henderson,
I am filing a grievance against Mr. Rostler, (my neighbor). Every morning, he goes on a walk and before he goes inside, he picks up my newspaper and places it into my mailbox. I am perfectly capable of walking outside myself and picking up my own paper. Please have him cease and desist.

-Dear Mr. Henderson,
HOA Board President
I am filing a grievance against Mr. Ralph Arnick. Around 4 o’clock every day, Mr. Arnick has his television set blaring and it is disturbing my afternoon nap. I do wake up at 5:00 am every morning, so I need this daily nap (which I am entitled to!) and the television should be at a normal volume. Remember, the early bird gets the worm! Please fix this matter!

-Dear Mr. Rostler and Mr. Arnick,
This is Mr. Henderson. The “Community Postings Board” is NOT for grievances! Grievances can be addressed to me at bhenderson656@yahoo.com, though I have to warn you that all of the “grievances” you have mentioned are not actually grievances according to our community guidelines. These are matters you will have to discuss like civilized neighbors. In the future, please do not post on this board.
Sincerely,
Mr. Benjamin Henderson
Board President
-Chair yoga will take place on Saturday at 11:00am in Vanderbuilt Hall.

-To Whom it May Concern,
We, Mr. Henry Rostler and Mr. Ralph Arnick would like to file a grievance against Board President Benjamin Henderson. Mr. Henderson does not seem to take our concerns seriously and we are well within the guidelines of the community guidelines manual, dated September 15, 1985. If there is an updated community guidelines manual, we have not received it, therefore Mr. Henderson has not done his job as Board President. However, considering we have both lived here for 40 years, we understand the guidelines much better than he does. Furthermore, while we have heard of the yahoo.com, we have never utilized it and will not start now.

I am filing a grievance against the winner of the Reedsy Prompts Challenge #357 for posting a story with such a unique creative format; it disturbed my understanding of what the parameters for a great short story can be. Please rectify this matter! Also, if anyone is looking for a dog sitter, I am available on Thursday mornings between 9am and 10:30am.

This was such a fun read. I loved how the entire rivalry unfolded through the community postings board, starting with squirrels, birds, roses, and newspapers before somehow turning into a full neighborhood rebellion. Mr. Rostler and Mr. Arnick becoming allies just to file a grievance against Mr. Henderson was a perfect turn. Really clever structure and a great sense of humor.

What a fun read!!!! This story kept me on my toes, with its fast pacing and quite funny grievances. It was relatable too, as these are trivial but common in real posting boards. Congrats🎉

Rostler filing a grievance because Arnick's rose bush scratched his leg and shortened his walk by seven minutes is peak petty neighbor energy and I love it. The way the feud escalates from birdseed theft to newspaper delivery to television volume is so perfectly absurd. And then they both team up to file a grievance against Henderson for not taking them seriously, and he just quits. I draw comics and honestly I kept seeing this as a series of panels alternating between the community board notices and the actual scenes of Rostler and Arnick glaring at each other from their windows. If you ever want to see a scene as a comic, I'm on Discord at jenny_clark10 This was hilarious and I'm genuinely invested in whether Harold the squirrel ever returns.

Is the title of this story WHINER? It sure fits. Is there anything that makes her happy?

Hey! I just read your story, and I’m completely hooked! Your writing is amazing, and I kept picturing how incredible it would look as a comic. I’m a professional commissioned artist, and I’d be so excited to collaborate with you on turning it into one. if you’re up for it, of course! I think it would be a perfect fit. If you’re interested, message me on Discord (laurendoesitall) Instagram (elsaa.uwu). Let me know what you think!

Mr. Henderson got wounded in the crossfire! It should be tragic but it is funny!
Such an insightful story that shows how ego clashes escalate and end up claiming innocent victims.
I liked the grievance messages sandwiched between regular announcements of various upcoming activities, like the commercials we watch during a TV show.
The format of storytelling is very interesting and enables a fast and comfortable read.
It was so relatable because my mother keeps gossiping about the happenings in her neighborhood about women in her peer group and their grievances.
