Fourth part of My Mistake! Enjoy!

I’m nervous. So, so nervous. This is dangerous.

My room is dark. I can’t even see my hand in front of me. Not that it matters that much. I mean, there isn’t much to do in my room anyway. 

Finally, the door opens. I can see someone slide inside, before the door closes behind them.

“Blake?” It’s Will. “Are you in here?”

“Where else would I be?”

I can hear him sigh. “Yeah, stupid question, sorry.”

“Are you really going to get me out of here?” I ask him.

He’s moving around, probably trying to find me. “I’m going to try.”

“Why?” 

His foot hits mine, and after a second, I feel his hand on my face. 

“Sorry.” He mutters. His hand moves down to my leg, looking for the chain. 

“Y’know, you could’ve brought a flashlight with you.” I say. 

He ignores me. I hear the chain jingle, but he pauses.

“You aren’t going to kill me, right?” He asks.

I sigh heavily. “No, Will.”

“Are you sure? ‘Cause-”

“I don’t want to kill you. I’m done killing people I love.” 

I definitely didn’t mean to say that. 

He coughs. “Love?”

“Just get me out of here.” I mutter, my face warm.

The chain shakes, then drops off of my ankle. I stand up, grinning.

“Thank you, thank you, thank you!” I whisper, reaching for him. “Can we go now?”

I catch his hand. “Not yet. The guards will finish their shifts soon.”

“Do you have a watch?” I gasp, feeling cold metal on his wrist. “What time is it? How long have I been here?”

“It’s almost ten. You’ve been here about four months.” 

Really? It seemed like so much longer. “Okay. Thanks.”

“Yeah.” 

We’re quiet for a second. We haven’t had an actual conversation in a while. I usually do all the talking. 

“Hey, you didn’t answer my question earlier.” I say. “Why are you helping me escape?”

“I don’t want you to have to stay here.”

“Okay...why?”

“Because you shouldn’t be here.”

“That’s not a good reason for you to risk this yourself.”

He huffs. “You’re annoying me.”

“Can’t you just tell me?”

“I’m helping you escape because I like you.” He hisses. “A lot. Okay? Is that a good answer?”

I can’t help grinning. “You like me? How much?”

“God, do you ever stop talking?”

“No, not really. I-”

He kisses me. 

Actually, he kisses the bridge of my nose. It’s too dark to see each other, so he must have thought my lips were somewhere else.

My lip quivers with suppressed laughter. “D-did you j-just-”

“Blake, I swear-”

I double over, slapping a hand over my mouth. I haven’t laughed in forever. 

“Why do I try with you?” He mutters. “Are you done?”

I nod, then remember he can’t see me. “Yes.”

“We aren’t talking about this again.”

I snort. “You might not, but I definitely will be.”

“Whatever.” He mutters. “Let’s go.”

He opens the door, and looks out into the hallway.

YOU’RE STUPID FOR TRUSTING HIM.

“Shut up.” I mutter.

“Hmm?”

I shake my head. “Not you, the voice.”

“Oh. Come on.”

We go into the hallway. I blink from the bright lights, then follow Will. The hallway is empty. There are three other doors, but that’s it. Each door has a complicated looking lock.

“Blake, we have to hurry.” Will says. “They know everything that happens here, but I don’t think they’ll expect this.”

I nod, and we start down the hallway. 

When we almost reach the other side, I hear footsteps behind us.

“Stop!” Someone shouts.  

Will turns around, and curses. “Keep going. Don’t turn around.”

“What? I don’t know where-”

“There’s a window at the end of the staircase. I’ll meet you there.”

I decide not to question it. I run down the hallway. I look back when I hear shouting. 

My eyes widen. Will is surrounded by a wall of water. It slams into the guards, pushing them back. He glances back at me. 

“GO!” He yells.

GO, YOU IDIOT!

Okay, okay, I’m going. I turn the corner, and start down the stairs. They twist around the wall, going down.

 But then I hear voices. I freeze as three guards walk towards me. 

“Intruder!” One of them yells.

Another flinches. “We’re right here, you don’t need to yell.”

“Oh. Sorry.”

The third one frowns. “He’s not an intruder. He’s a prisoner.”

“Prisoner!”

“You’ve got to stop that.” 

“Sorry.”

“And he’s escaping!”

“Escapee!”

“Oh my god, shut up.”

“Sorry.”

I clear my throat. “Can I go now?”

“Yeah, sure.” The first one says.

“No, you idiot. We have to bring him back to his cell!”

“Oh. Sorry. What floor are you on?”

“The one under this one.” I lie. 

They sigh, and turn around. “Come on.”

They start bickering as we walk down the stairs, completely ignoring me. That was ridiculously easy. Maybe this place isn't a high security prison.

When we reach the bottom of the stairs, I realize I didn’t think this through. They’re actually going to take me to a cell. I’m supposed to be waiting for Will. 

“Umm, you guys can go ahead.” I say.

The first two don’t even hear me, and keep bickering while they walk. But the third one, a guy with long black hair, turns to look at me. 

“And where are you going?” He asks, crossing his arms. 

I bite my lip. “No where. I just...wanted to look out the window.”

“Well, fine. But hurry, we have to get you back to your cell.”

I walk to the window. All I can see is water. How are we supposed to get out of here? We’re really high up.

“Alright, let’s go.” The guy says. 

I frown. “Can’t I look a little longer? I haven't seen the moon in months.”

“Fine. But hurry, I’m not getting in trouble for you.”

Will, please hurry.

“Okay, you’ve got to get back to your cell now.” He says after a minute.

Reluctantly, I start to follow him. I walk as slow as I can. He glances back at me, and sighs. 

“Look, I’m tired. Can you please hurry up?”

A wave of water suddenly shoots over my head, slamming into him, and making him fall back. I turn and see Will on the stairs, frowning at me. 

“What are you doing?” He demands. “Do you want to get caught?”

I huff at him. “I was perfectly fine.”

“You were about to get taken back to a cell! How is that perfectly fine?”

“I don’t see how this is my fault.”

“Sure, sure. Let’s go.” He says, walking to the window.

He pries it open, and leans out, looking down at the water. 

“Okay, I’ll jump first, then-”

“Jump? No way. I’m not jumping! We’re, like, fifty feet up!”

He gives me an exasperated look. “We’re only thirty feet up. And this is the best way to escape.”

“But...fine. How are we going to survive the fall?”

He wiggles his fingers. “You didn’t just see that water magic?”

“Oh, yeah. Hey, when were you going to tell me about that? I-”

He rolls his eyes, then falls out the window and yells, “Jump!”

This doesn’t seem safe. Not at all. But still, I put one leg through the window. I try to pull the other through, but I tilt to the side, and the next thing I know, I’m falling.

I scream as the water rushes towards me. Before I hit it, it erupts around me. I’m under the water, surrounded by a huge bubble.

Will swims over, and I see he’s trying not to laugh. 

“Are you okay?” He asks me. He swims into the bubble, grabbing my hands. 

I glare at him. “No, I’m not okay! That was terrifying!”

“It’s fine. You’re safe now.” He assures me.

“I have a few things to say. First, you can do magic? Second, can we try that kiss again? Third, it’s not fine, I just fell out a window! Fourth-”

He kisses me. Seriously this time. 

“About time.” I say when he pulls away. “I just had to fall out of a window-”

“Okay, wow, moment ruined.”

“I don’t care! I just fell fifty feet!”

“Let it go, Blake. You’re alive, aren’t you?”

“Well, yes, but-”

“So it’s fine. And it was only thirty feet.”

He’s right.

“Shut up.” I mutter. That’s the first time the voice hasn’t yelled at me. 

Will grins. “Ready to go?”

“Yep. Where are we going?”

“My house.” He says. The bubble starts moving. I’m not sure what he’s doing. 

“You have a house?”

“Yeah, I have a house, did you think I lived there?”

“Kind of, yes.” 

When we get to land, I realize how tired I am. I haven't slept in a while.

There's a thick forest in front of us, and Will heads towards it.

"C'mon, it's this way." He says, pulling my arm.

I follow him through the trees, not really paying attention to where we're going. Suddenly, an arrow shoots in front of me, sticking into a tree, an inch from my nose.
