Diary of a Busy Julia

Dear Diary,

Hi! My name is Julia Hope. I am a normal sixteen-year-old girl, who loves to play the guitar. It's my passion, but that's just one of my many passions. 

For example, last year I tried ballerina class, but then I hated it because I kept stepping on my toe and it bruised a lot of times, which I hated. Also, the shoes really hurt my feet and compress my pinky toe, so how could twirl around when my feet are hurt? Plus, let's not even get into their frilly dresses. The fabric which these tutus are made from is super itchy, scratchy, and just...ugh!

Not just that, I'm more of a tomboy. I love to wear black hoodies and some sweatpants. They're like my dresses. Sometimes,(but ONLY on special occasions) I wear a buttoned-up shirt and some tight-fitting jeans. Just wearing those feel like I'm torturing myself. Also, every time I had gone to practice last year, they made you wear super tight (and boring) buns. Your hair couldn't stick out from many directions, which is why they applied gallons of hair gel on my head. Honestly, I felt so mad that I could literally punch my head on the wall. The only reason I had tried ballerina was that my mom loved ballerina and she had insisted, forced me to try it. 

But soon she realized I hated it.

P.S. Also, why can't our baby hairs stick out? Is it against the law in ballerina or something? Honestly, my go-to is a ponytail. Sheesh, I wonder who created ballerina. 🤔

Hey diary, it's me again. Dad said I have to try basketball later today, as an extra sport. But I've already dedicated that to swimming. I love swimming! Ok, maybe not JUST swimming, but also lacrosse, and a bit of tennis. But no, my dad wants me to play basketball. I mean, what's all the excitement about throwing a ball into the hoop? Huh? Seriously, I really don't get why there are teams like NBA because everyone on that team is just wasting their career. 

I mean LeBron James or Micheal Jordon should try and do something better than helping their team put a ball inside a hoop, you know? 

But, when I asked my dad politely if I could just continue swimming and lacrosse classes, and in school, I could take tennis, he refused. He threatened me that only if I try out basketball, he'll pay for the classes. Then he lectured to be about how important it is to keep the family legacy of basketball, and other stuff (blah, blah, blah...you know?) which I thought was kind of absurd but didn't say that to him. 

After all, he IS my dad, and I figured I just listen to him. Who knows? Maybe I can actually enjoy basketball and the concept of dumping a ball into a hoop.

P.S. Hey, actually if I keep practicing basketball, then taking out the trash would be so much easier! All I can do is focus on the dumpster (the net) and try to aim my huge bag of garbage (the ball) to fall inside! Hmm...maybe dad really does have a point. Anyways, gotta go to basketball practice, and of course, go to school. =)

Day: Saturday

Time: 7:40 am

Hey, there diary! Sorry, I couldn't write for a long time...you know how my days are. Now, mom and dad say that I have to try drama club. (So basketball, guitar practice, swimming practice, lacrosse practice, and my tennis classes aren't enough???) Honestly, my desk is bombarded with homework. To be specific, I have Math (which is, let me tell you, the EASIEST thing I have on this pile...say what??), Chemistry, Physics, Essay Writing, Civics, History, and lastly Spanish homework. 

Yes, I know, you might ask me how I even have time to write these entries. 

Honestly, I don't know. Maybe it's the fact that every day I sleep at around 1: 30 am (actually, that's the earliest I sleep, you DON'T wanna know what my latest time to go to sleep is...mom and dad will kill me if they see this, which they won't, but still you never know...).

I tried to convince them that I can't even imagine the idea of standing in front of the crowd, acting! 

Here is a list of all the possible things that could go wrong:

Are these many points enough for my parents to not make me sign up for the play? 

Nope.

They think that I can meet more people, try new skills, and everyone will get to know me better. But I'm better than that. I KNOW why they're forcing me to do this. They can brag to the entire neighborhood that their daughter goes to seventy million classes, is good at everything, gets amazing grades, all because of their great parenting.

I wish there was some way to change their minds about this entire fiesta of signing up for the play.

Anyways, I have to go and "sign up" for the play I'm going to ruin in another few weeks.
