Written in response to: "Write about someone whose time is running out." as part of The Big Break with London Writers Centre.

This is why you are experiencing anxiety: look at the schedule this doesn’t make any sense. They’re only 24 hours in a day and you need to sleep for eight of them no not 58 this is why you’re experiencing anxiety. You’re not getting enough sleep because your schedule is crazy and the only one is putting all this pressure I need to get these things done. Is you so do the square breathing the way that we taught yo, take down time the way that we’ve been telling you and take stuff off the list.

You’ve told us about the Benjamin Franklin Way; remember? I know: A is a priority, B are things you’d like to get done,C things that if you get time you’ll do them, but not important. But you also have this on a schedule which you are strict about; I go so for as they say, your anal retentive about it. So, let’s talk about making things B’s and C’s and quitting multitasking. You can only do one thing at a time, even if you think you can do two. One thing remember the study show that when we multitask we screw up and you screwed up a lot. That’s why you came to this clinic; the time clinic. We are Not time travel we’re not time manipulator with the time clinic we help people with time problems you’re saying that you don’t have enough time and that you’re suffering from anxiety and depression, and we looked at all the possibilities and in our professional opinion and remember, we have over 50 years of experience. The solution to your problem is to take things off of the A-list. The best thing to do would be to take things off your list. Yes, we know you have memory problems and you think writing things down in a planner will help and in most cases you’re right cause then you don’t have to worry about forgetting them, but in your case, it would be better if you did forget about them. Yes you may forget things but if you take them up later, we’re 80% sure that you’ll remember them again. Think about riding a bike if you got on a bike now you remember how to ride a bike, drove a car you remember how to drive a car so if you did a monologue later, you remember the monologue later, right?

Why would it be any different than driving a car or riding a bike? Yes those are motor skills. I understand the monologues the card tricks the juggling …. Juglling is motor skill. We’ve also made you this big white poster with black letters on it and you can read even though you don’t think you can read we know you can read we’ve tested you. Siri either a scam artist you’re not a procrastinator but you’re procrastinating because there’s everything to do. You’re an oxymoron. Actually, looking at this I just say you’re a moron. You’re a smart moron, but you’re still a moron. No one is forcing you to do this. Your rent is paid. There’s food on your table. The only one that’s forcing you to do these things is you suppose that you didn’t do any of these things today what would happen? With the world stop spinning out of taxes would someone starve to death your muscles my trick let’s look that up: “Hey Google: how long not working out does it take for muscles to shrink?” it says 2 to 3 weeks. So if you took one day off your muscles wouldn’t shrink in fact they might grow because after you work out, they need time to repair themselves. That’s how they grow. Yes, I know they grow in your sleep. You are correct but you’re not getting enough sleep either because of your schedule. Yes, I know range of motion, diet, and proper form player role to but the biggest things you’re missing is sanity and sleep. So you need to change yes I know change is scary, but do you want to keep going on like this?

You called us because you wanted help because of your anxiety you didn’t call us. Your legal guardian called us. OK and do you want help or not? You want help with coping skills and anxiety but if you fix a problem, then you won’t need medication or coping skills. How much longer do we have in this appointment? See that’s rude. You’ll have a lot more time if you don’t spend all your time doing things superfluous so let’s talk about the elephant in the room your schedule you have 60 things in the 24 hour schedule, most of which are overlapping learning the alphabet backwards. Why would that be important? OK if the cops pull you over the last but you don’t drive or have a car. Someday you might. Why don’t we work on getting a license back before we worry about alphabetize it’s not doing one thing at a time and eliminating half of the schedule and let’s see what your anxiety level is like. you think you’re running out of time because this is taking an hour and you keep checking your watch and checking your cell phone, but you’ll have a lot more time when we have to do that if you follow our advice, let’s start with looking at all these things and seeing which of these things make you happy None of these things could make you happy? Then why are you spending all this time doing things that are making you miserable because they’re on the schedule and switch the schedule and do things that make you happy yes I’m aware our time is almost up, but then this has been a complete waste of your time and my time our time is running out and before you know it, you’ll be old and still have this crazy schedule and you’ll probably die of a heart attack or a stroke. Is this crazy craziness for dying of a heart attack or a stroke?
