A LIFE CHANGE UNKNOWINGLY

Miniang is born out of wedlock. Her mother is a laundrywoman of a rich family in their village. She has not been recognize at all by the rich family. Anita keeps her laundry work to the rich family . Neighbors heard she is paid with a higher salary just to let the mother and daughter survive. not that they will be called living in poverty. Anita in her mind wants to improve her life with Miniang. She added an extra job helping a storeowner in the community. She helps Marcia put merchandise in their store shelves and housekeep for them on Saturday. Her extra work on Saturday enabled her to make a small savings thinking to build her own place to live but first she has to buy a piece of land. After buying the piece of land she has to plant some fruit trees. It could be a banana or mango orchard. Miniang is growing fast. Anita works hard her daughter is only her inspiration for their future to prosper. Anita seems not to have interest if it comes to the opposite sex to have someone to help her raise Miniang . How can she be sure when the father of Miniang didn't took her seriously opting to leave the village and lived in the city. She heard he is not doing well in his life changing his career after another a problem to his parents who wanted him to straighten his crooked ways, choosing his friends to be with. His parents are getting tired of him. They have cut his allowance. He is living with friends. His parents are waiting for him to come home. They might consider his come back and restore his allowance as long as he promise to go back to school. They have not seen him not a shadow of him to show up to them. Miniang as a little girl wondered why she has no father. Most of the time when she saw her friends her classmates to show up during school meetings , how she wished she has a father too. A father who would side with her when boys tries to bully her knowing she has no father. She has only one friend who always go with her to school and going home after school. If boys come around they would hold each others hand in hand that way they cannot be seoarated butt be together. The village guard(barangay tanod) are around to look after them. A village guard use his bike to spot children going into trouble or boys chasing girls after they finish their classes. If boys are caught chasing girls the village guard round them up bring them to the village community center.This is where ther parents will pick them up. Here when they are listeds for the first time, there is no penalty or fine to be paid. This is the village captain and his council curb the bad behaviour to make children safe while they are in school. As a growing child Miniang and her friend will stay at the corner village guard station to wait for a guard to bring them home once they feel a group of boys are following them. Anita is very careful in taking care of Miniang . She wants to protect her to see that she can attend to her school activities very well. She supervises her school activities , she found out Miniang is doing well at school. This is the dream Miniang has for her daughter. saving for her secondary school. . Miniang is at her senior year in high school. At her graduation ceremony Anita broke into tears, meaning tears of joy. Being a single mother in this occasion is heartbreaking. They both celebrated with a neighbor whose son has also finished his secondary education. Anita didn't know Fidel asked his parents to invite Miniang and Anita to celebrate the special occasion with them. Miniang who has maintained her high scholastic record has qualified for a scholarship grant to continue her studies. She didn't know Fidel his neighbor has followed up what she was doing in school. She may have tried to ignore him thinking what Anita's warning to her about boys. Boys are disturbance in the life of a girl. Anita's wound of a broken heart , a single mother to raise her daughter on her own always linger at anytime anyplace. Miniang has devoted her studies promised herself to be more studious to concentrate in pursuing her career in Psychology. To learn more about human behavior to find out why there is love and kindness versus anger and frustration. In higher learning it strives to seek understanding of others feelings. Why there is frustration? Frustration leading to hopelessness. Kindness is to help people in need. Back to her childhood Miniang aims to help those who struggle to accept reality. to drain themselves of their troubles. To live in the present not in the past. Like her who arrive into this stage of her life to put her past behind her. To be more understanding to herself to accept who she is. a child who grew up without a father. How did she accept to be an orphan even though she knows his father is alive?. Did people help her overcome the feeling of being unwanted.? Her mother is beside her all the way. How much time and effort has she spent to her to put aside the desire to have a husband and a father to her daughter? How did she and her mother share the feeling of being fatherless? How did her mother stood as her father and mother at the same time? How did they stood together to cover up what is lacking in their family relationship? How did they cope in tthe presence of a family they could not get near or tto be close with at all when they are just within their next door neighbor? They can't even get near to their steel gates after they received the last support handed to them. Miniang took her course in behavioral sciences hoping to to help others cope about their relationships with families, businesses building stronger and stable emotions to adjust with daily activities like the case of newly married couples. Training new mothers to learn more about motherhood. This time Miniang decided to set up her own place near where she is working and let her mother live with her. After landing a high paying job as a hospital psychologist she ordered her mother to sell her property and come to where she is living. She will stay with her to look after her to live in a more relaxing environment away from the former neighbors but live in a new neighborhood, build new relationships with them. It will be a refreshing environment for both of them. Anita is able to sell her small property . She moved to her daughter's place Miniang saw to it that her mother feel comfortable in her new situation. What can she do for herself not to feel bored? She learned to join a group of seniors. They have activities to spend at their leisure time. Miniang is very thankful to find a place with her mother. without the surroundings the people that reminds her the painful past literally put them in continuous pain and suffering in their thoughts and mind. Fought all odds to get out of that lingering pan and frustration. Their new place is refreshing and enjoyable. Fidel Miniang's former childhood neighbor graduated earlier in college went to university to finish his medical course in medicine especializing in neurology. He was very excited when he learned Miniang is their new psychologist. He didn't forget her at all since that day when they celebrated their graduation together at their house. It made a lasting impression in his mind the hardship she is going through to be fatherless yet his biological father is on the loose. He admired Anita who worked so hard for her daughter to prepare her for a better future. How can Anita trust another man in her life? For her God has given her Miniang to love and to take care of. Going to church on Sunday with Miniang develop their beliefs that He will provide everything they need. At the meeting of the neurosurgeons all hospital psychologists are also,present. The meeting is about close collaboration of the neurosurgeon and psychologist. Miniang is surprised while Fidel is excited seeing each other. Fidel approached Miniang after the meeting telling her to meet during lunch at the hospital staff lunchroom. Fidel is like in a dream to see her as close as now. He waited for this day to come for them to be together unexpectedly this place where they work. What has happen to Miniang in the past is no longer important having overcome the obstacles that ends here with Fidel. Fidel in his mind will not let her go to face life alone. He will work out to love her, to live with her to completely change her life.GP
