My story is titled What happens during and after a storm in my home country?
It can be noted that during a storm, there are intense weather phenomena such as strong winds, heavy rain, lightning, and potential hazards like flooding and tornadoes that often occur in my home country. After the storm, the aftermath involves assessing and cleaning up damage, followed by environmental recovery and then addressing the long-term physical and psychological impacts.
All storms are dangerous. Almost every storm produces lightning, which eventually kills more people each year than tornadoes. Also, heavy rain from storms can lead to flash flooding. Strong winds, hail, and tornadoes are also dangers associated with some storms.
Again, after a storm causes damage to some properties, the government finds all sorts of means to resolve it. Whenever you are sure of the severe weather threat that has ended, check all your properties for all sorts of damage that might eventually occur at that moment.
In addition, when walking through a storm, always wear long pants, a long-sleeved shirt, and shoes.
You must always contact local authorities whenever you see power lines down in your country. During storms, you must stay out of damaged buildings and other affected communities.
Among the stages of storms are the developing stage, the mature stage, and the dissipating stage.
Also, there are five things that you should avoid doing in a lightning storm. In a lightning storm, you should turn off corded phones, computers, and other electrical equipment that puts you in direct contact with electricity. One must avoid plumbing, including sinks, baths, and faucets. Also, during storms, individuals must stay away from windows and doors and stay off porches.
Sometimes, after storms, when houses are affected by floods, the Humanitarian Aid provides the victims with a good shelter, food, and clothing, and they sometimes find them work to fend for themselves in their home country. In times of severe storms, individuals must not lie on concrete floors and lean against concrete walls.
The Bible says that God is in control of every storm. Also, a typical storm often lasts about thirty minutes to an hour. It can be noted that severe storms can last for many hours and then travel long distances to other communities.
Also, during a storm, the safest place to be is in a fully enclosed metal vehicle or a substantial building or house. The storm is close enough to be dangerous, so you must always seek shelter somewhere. Always wait for thirty minutes or more after a lightning flash during the storm before leaving shelter. Also, individuals must stay indoors during lightning and storms.
Also, sudden death occurs during storms. It can be noted that a lightning strike can cause a simultaneous cardiac and respiratory arrest during a storm.
In addition, during storms, individuals must avoid using wired electronics like computers that are plugged in. Some wireless devices, like smartphones or laptops, are safe to use as long as they are connected to a wall by a wired charger.
It is not always best to cook during storms, since lightning can travel through electrical systems such as radio and television reception systems.
Also, during storms, individuals must not use anything connected to an electrical outlet, such as computers, laptops, game systems, washers, dryers, or stoves.
A storm must reach wind speeds of at least 74 miles per hour.
The Bhola cyclone of 1970 is recorded as the deadliest storm ever formed. Also, the Bhola cyclone storm caused almost 300,000 to 500,000 deaths in East Pakistan, now Bangladesh.
It can be noted that the Thunder God, also known as Indra, Zeus, Zogz, and Perun, controls storms.
Also, it is always best to avoid all water during a storm. Again, the risk of lightning traveling through plumbing might be less with plastic pipes.
There are two signs to notice when a storm is coming. Among them are
Knowing the warning signs:
Again, look for darkening skies, dark and towering clouds, and flashes of light or some increasing wind.
Always listen for storms. Whenever you hear storms and you are close enough to the storm to be easily struck by lightning, you should go to a safe shelter immediately.
Almost all Airlines and Pilots try as much as possible to avoid storms due to the fact that comfort and safety are our top priorities on the Plane always.
Whenever one hears a storm, the individual must first seek shelter immediately. Always remember the lightning or storm safety rules:
When a storm roars, always go indoors and stay there until thirty minutes after the last clap of thunder.
Where there are signs of approaching storms, workers should not begin any task that they cannot quickly stop.
When someone is struck by lightning or a storm, you must do the following
Call for help or get someone to dial 911 or your local emergency medical services number.
Always give first Aid. If breathing has stopped, begin rescue breathing.
Finally, check for burns in two places.
Lightning or storms can travel through electrical phones, plumbing, radio, and television reception systems.
Lightning or storms can travel through any metal wire or bars in concrete walls.
During a lightning storm, stay away from the wall phone, plumbing fixtures, and showers.
Also, during a storm, you should turn off and then unplug any non-essential appliances to prevent them from being damaged by a power surge. Also, Haiyan is the most powerful storm ever recorded to strike land.
Again, what causes a storm to form requires three basic ingredients: moisture, unstable air, and lift. The moisture from the air comes from the ocean and other areas near some warm ocean currents that evaporate lots of moisture into the air.
The moisture in the air is also responsible for making clouds. Among the five facts about storms are
Storms always occur singularly, in clusters, or in lines.
Also, storms are classified as severe if they produce a tornado, which often occurs in the United States of America.
It can be noted that all storms contain lightning.
A storm or lightning strike can kill almost everyone. Storms often bring powerful winds that can knock down trees, power lines, and mobile homes. Some intense rainfall causes flash floods, tornadoes, and lightning strikes that can spark fires as well as cause damaging hail. Storms or lightning can strike people or other objects and then cause death.
In times of storms, Airlines prioritize passenger safety by delaying flights until weather conditions become favorable.
Whenever storms are forecasted, consider cancelling your walk. Always be especially cautious of potential storms in the summer months, which can involve hail, gusty winds, and torrential downpours at all times.
Finally, I would like to conclude that these are the signs and symptoms of being struck by storms or lightning. Among them are common injuries caused by storms that include muscle pains, broken bones, cardiac arrest, confusion, hearing loss, seizures, burns, behavioral changes, and ocular cataracts.
Lastly, it is only when victims are affected by storms and floods that they are often offered humanitarian aid such as food, shelter, and clothing in order to address their loss of items and other properties.
