Overview

I’m a full-service editor with over two decades of experience. I have worked with top publishers in London.
I am also a widely published journalist with bylines in The Washington Post, The Atlantic, The Guardian, Slate, Los Angeles Review of Books, Literary Hub, Catapult and Artforum. I have reported stories from four continents on a range of cultural and historical topics. I am a Cambridge University graduate and have a PhD from the University of London.

I will read your work for grammar, syntax, word usage, spelling, and punctuation. I'll ensure stylistic and narrative consistency and will see that the text conforms to industry standards of style. When I return your edited manuscript, all my edits will be visible to you and you will have the final say over the text--your book, your last word.

I want to help your story find the piece it’s missing and shape it into the thing that got you excited about writing it in the first place. Whether you need someone to get down in the trenches with you and figure out the brass tacks of your story beats, or just need proofreading before you send it out, I would love to collaborate and make something beautiful together. Let’s go to work!

Testimonials:

“Nathan is a conscientious, detail-oriented, and extraordinarily dedicated editor. I have worked with several editors of varying levels of experience and skill over the past five years, both in print and online media across the trade book and literary/academic journal industries, and he is by far one of the fairest, most talented, and easiest to work with. I wholeheartedly endorse the fine work he's done and continues to do. I hope to work with him for the foreseeable future.”

—Pauline S.
