Overview
I specialize in a wide range of projects, including biographies & memoirs, business & management, history, political science & current affairs, and sports & outdoors projects. My enthusiasm in writing about lots of topics was forged during my years in NYC journalism, when I guided breaking news coverage at prominent newsrooms like ABC News and the NY Daily News and jumped on any interesting story that emerged. I shifted to book ghostwriting in 2019 to strike a better work-life balance and have since come to love it. I've completed 30+ manuscripts, the most prominent of which is a biography of baseball star Ken Caminiti, Playing Through the Pain, that received a starred review from Publishers Weekly (Abrams Press, 2022). Another well-received project involved my collaboration with author Jonathan Stanley, Purposeful Performance, which became a national bestseller in 2025 following a viral TikTok moment during a book signing that received coverage from NBC's Today Show and the Washington Post.
Among my other writing clientele and ghostwriting projects:
* A family ancestry memoir story involving a DNA test that revealed a long-buried secret
* A memoir involving personal trauma, addiction, and healing
* A book about growing your business using YouTube videos
* A business & management book about the power of collaboration in corporate and personal relationships
* A business & management book about usage-based economics and its growing importance in commerce
* A business profile book about Microsoft's founding, success and journey forward
* A true-crime project about a 1960s health-care serial killer
* A project with a prominent school leader about their school's history and path to flourishing following a crisis point
* A politics book written under a tight deadline
* A politics and legal project involving a lawsuit against a prominent politician
* A book with a successful sports coach
* A book with a sports team that overcame incredible odds to achieve national success
I help the authors I work with to unlock their message, uncover their purpose and own their story. I lean on my journalism skills -- deep reporting, skilled interviewing, and sharp writing on deadline -- to ghostwrite the strongest possible books. My process typically involves weekly meetings. From those discussions I then draft chapters. The first few meetings involve book foundation work (hook, audience, outline and positioning statement) to ensure that the project is aligned; this also ensures that the writing process is efficient. I enjoy helping people complete, typically in 3-6 months, the book they've always wished to write but could never finish.

"The project was incredibly complex. Dan helped systemize it and with his cool head helped persistently come back time and again until we had an A+ outcome."
