Reedsy video calls take place through Zoom and are free and unlimited.
Professionals can schedule calls themselves or connect Calendly and share their availability with a specific author. The author can then choose an available time and book the call directly.
Once a call is confirmed, both parties receive an email with the Zoom link and an option to add the call to their calendar.
Who can schedule a call?
Professionals can start a call immediately with Call now or choose a date and time with Schedule a call.
A professional can also share their Calendly availability with a specific author. The author can then select and confirm one of the available time slots.
How do professionals connect and share Calendly?
- Go to Account Settings.
- Find the Calendly section and select Connect Calendly.
- Open the Reedsy conversation with the author and select Video call.
- Select Share Calendly.
- Choose the Calendly event type whose availability you want to share.
How do authors book from shared availability?
Open the Video call menu in the conversation and select Open [professional’s name]’s Calendly. Choose an available date and time, then select Confirm.
Calendly availability is shared for one booking only. Once the author schedules a call, the shared availability is removed. If they want to book another call, the professional must select Share Calendly again.
Will the booking appear in Calendly?
Not currently. The confirmed call appears in Reedsy, but the booking is not added to the professional’s Calendly account.
Event syncing is still being developed and will require a paid Calendly plan when available.
Where can I find my scheduled calls?
Scheduled calls appear in the Video call section of the Reedsy inbox conversation. From there, you can view the call details and access the available editing or cancellation options.
Do I need to install any software?
No. If Zoom is installed, the call can open in the Zoom app. Otherwise, you can join through your browser. We recommend the Zoom app for the best experience.
Do you store audio or video from the call?
No. Reedsy does not store a playable audio or video recording.
A live transcript is created during the call, emailed to both participants afterwards, and saved in the Reedsy inbox conversation. Zoom may announce that the call is being recorded; this refers to the live transcript.
Is the content I share private?
Yes. Your conversation and transcript are private and are not used for AI training. Reedsy may access collaboration documentation if either party submits a formal report under Project Protection.
Can I have an audio-only call?
Yes. Join the Zoom call and turn off your camera.
Are group calls supported?
No. Marketplace video calls currently support only the author and professional.
Can I share my own call link or scheduling link?
Do not send external phone numbers, video-call links, or scheduling links during ordinary Marketplace interactions.
The Calendly integration is the supported way to share availability: connect Calendly through Account Settings and use Share Calendly inside the Reedsy conversation.
For the complete rules and any exceptions, see Reedsy’s Communication Policy.
What happens after the call?
Both participants receive the transcript by email. The transcript is also saved in the Reedsy inbox conversation so that the discussion remains documented in one place.
