Reedsy video calls take place through Zoom and are free and unlimited. Professionals can schedule a call themselves or share their Calendly availability so that an author can book a suitable time.
Option 1: The professional schedules the call
- Discuss a convenient time through Reedsy messaging.
- The professional opens the conversation and selects Video call.
- Select Schedule a call, then choose the date and time. To start immediately, select Call now instead.
- The author receives an invitation and accepts it to confirm the call.
- Once confirmed, both parties receive an email with the Zoom link and an option to add the call to their calendar.
Option 2: The professional shares Calendly availability
The professional first connects Calendly:
- Go to Account Settings.
- Find the Calendly section and select Connect Calendly.
- Open the Reedsy conversation with the author and select Video call.
- Select Share Calendly.
- Choose the Calendly event type whose availability you want to share.
The author can then book the call:
- Open the Video call menu in the conversation.
- Select Open [professional’s name]’s Calendly.
- Choose an available date and time.
- Select Confirm.
Calendly availability is shared for one booking only. Once the author schedules a call, the shared availability is removed. If they want to book another call, the professional must select Share Calendly again.
The confirmed call appears in Reedsy. It is not currently added to the professional’s Calendly account. Event syncing is still being developed and will require a paid Calendly plan when available.
Attending the call
When the call starts, join using the Zoom link in the confirmation email. If you are logged in to Reedsy, an on-screen notification may also provide the link.
You do not need to install Zoom. The call can open in your browser, although we recommend the Zoom app for the best experience.
Screen sharing is available during the call.
After the call
A live transcript is emailed to both participants and saved in the Reedsy inbox conversation. Reedsy does not store a playable audio or video recording.
Use Reedsy messaging and its built-in video-call and Calendly tools for Marketplace meetings. Do not send external contact details, call links, or scheduling links during ordinary Marketplace interactions.
