Christina Palaia

Christina Palaia – Editor

30 years a copyeditor, trusted by major publishers. Word wrangler, sentence stylist, text tamer, for novels and nonfiction.

Overview

You did it! You just poured your heart—not to mention years of hard-won life experience and buckets of effort—into writing a book. Congratulations! The manuscript seems sturdy—everything is where it’s supposed to be and the book’s structure could withstand an earthquake. But it reads a little rough around the edges. It’s a little weak; it wanders, seems to lack impact.

Are you ready to take it to the next level?

If you’re looking for assistance elevating what you’ve written—fiction or non—I can help. For more than thirty years, I’ve been assisting traditionally published authors with polishing their prose and honing their voice and style so that their story sings and serves their readers the exact experience they wish their book to deliver.

I offer three levels of editing:

--Essential Copyediting: A thorough technical check that improves grammar, spelling, punctuation, sentence structure, and phrasing. Copyediting includes light fact-checking for consistency and correctness.

--Artful Line Editing: A stylistic review of your manuscript that improves flow and readability while heightening the artistry, elegance, and impact of your words. Line Editing enhances your style, increases the text’s effectiveness, and improves reader engagement, for nonfiction and novels. It also includes all the tasks of Copyediting.

--Sarah Connor Ghost Editing: A complete overhaul of AI-generated writing that humanizes the text, corrects misinformation, and restores nuance and meaning to “mass-produced” writing. Your ideas are too precious to trust to a bot for safe handling. If the AI generates the rough draft, the Sarah Connor Edit creates the final draft—and terminates AI slop.

Writing is a craft. Words are our tools. Masterful arrangement of words on a page can cut across time and space and touch your reader's heart and mind. I'd like to help you find the most elegant, evocative, engaging language to make your book memorable.

From Memoir and History to True Crime and Mystery, Adventure and Thriller to Self-Help and Suspense, I focus on elevating your unique voice and story.

Let’s collaborate and unlock the potential of your manuscript. Please message me today to discuss your book-to-be and for a personalized quote.

…AI, AI, AI; all we hear about is AI. Here’s my policy:

I perform all editing personally and do not employ AI tools to review, rewrite, or generate any portion of the author’s manuscript. I ask that authors/clients warrant that the manuscript submitted for editing is their own original work and has not been substantially generated or rewritten by AI tools unless expressly disclosed as such in writing at the time of engagement with me.

That said, if AI assistance is the only way you’ve managed to get a rough draft together, let’s reshape it into a unique and thoughtful book that comes directly from your singular self. Sarah Connor Editing starts at 14 cents per word. Compared to ghostwriting fees or using your own time to climb the learning curve of book writing, it might be a bargain.

In a comprehensive editorial letter, I level with you and note exactly where your manuscript is working and where it's faltering. The revision plan I devise for you is feasible because it takes into consideration your goals for the book and prioritizes the revisions that optimize your energy and effort in bringing the book to fruition. Book coaching sessions are like a developmental edit that unfolds in real time: we grab your idea from the ether, pin it to the page, frame and reframe it to bring out all the colors of its beauty and truth.

With your agreement, I get to work polishing your manuscript, empowering your voice, style, and the emotional impact of your words at the sentence and paragraph levels. Or we can put our heads together to figure out how to finish your book. And then I do it for you. If you've used AI assistance to organize your ideas and need help eradicating all traces of it from your manuscript, just call me Sarah Connor. lol Publishers reject AI-generated texts. Readers are annoyed by it and begin to doubt an author's credibility and authenticity. Don't let AI generate slop with your name on it.
