Overview
Hi! I’m an experienced copy editor with a deep background in the humanities, who has copy edited and proofread fourteen books for the Catholic University of America Press, four for New York University Press, and one later published by Johns Hopkins University. The subject areas have been religion, history, and education, with forays into biography and Christian historical fiction. I’ve also provided copy editing on dissertations and master’s theses, on the subjects of Civil War history, chaplaincy, public policy, theatre history, and international relations. My “other life” is that of a professional actor, where my performances in dozens of classical plays have given me a deep understanding of complex & archaic language. And you may have seen me recently in Google’s “American Gothic” commercial!
You are the expert in the subject you’re writing about. I can help you reach your audience. I stand in for the reader, clarifying what I do and don’t understand, and offering solutions that are always respectful, collaborative, and specific. Our work together might consist of my reading your entire manuscript and editing/proofreading it (with communication via email), plus some online research to support my suggested changes. Once I return the manuscript (with notes) to you, and get your responses, I can then provide a “cleanup” edit. I’d be honored to support you in bringing your project to completion.
