Vicky Garrard

Vicky Garrard – Editor

A children's book editor with over 25 years' experience in non-fiction and picture books. I love sharing my expertise and shaping success!

Overview

I’m a creative yet efficient book editor with over 20 years’ experience working in-house for major children’s book publishers such as Scholastic, Bonnier and Quarto. I specialise in picture books and children’s non-fiction and have worked on hugely successful children’s brands such as Little People, Big Dreams, Welcome to the Museum and Horrible Histories. I love a good pun and believe humour is important in engaging children and helping them learn.

I have experience of working with high profile authors but have also guided novice authors through the entire publishing process. I really enjoying working with authors to turn an idea or first draft into a commercially viable manuscript.

I appreciate how overwhelming the publishing process can feel and how many confusing terms there are, so if you’re stuck as to what you need to do next, or just need an editor’s opinion, I can help.

Fantastic. Delivered as promised and clearly demonstrates my poor grammatical prowess - which is exactly what I wanted. Edits were easy to follow and understand.
