Search Begins For Husband And Father February 17, 2026
A search has begun for Richard Hardborough, who was reported missing by his wife, Megan Hardborough, on Sunday.
Megan tells the Sequoia Valley Press that her husband disappeared sometime between the night of the fourteenth and the morning of the fifteenth. Initially, upon seeing that her husband’s car wasn’t in their driveway, she thought her husband was simply out getting groceries, but when she attempted to call him in order to add a few items to buy, she found that his phone was turned off. Knowing this was out-of-character for Richard, Megan reached out to friends and family to see if they had seen or heard from him that day, but none of them had. At last, when night fell and her husband had neither returned home nor contacted her, she filed a missing person’s report.
The Sequoia Valley Police are asking the public for assistance in locating Mr. Hardborough and have opened a tip line to ensure his safe return.
When asked if there was a possibility of foul play, the police chief responded, “At this time we cannot rule anything out, but will update the public as new evidence arises.”
Search Continues For Missing Husband and Father February 22, 2026
The search for Richard Hardborough, a father of two and native of Sequoia Valley, continues a week after he was initially reported missing by his wife, Megan.
On Friday, sheriff officers located the missing man’s vehicle parked at Winding Snake River state park. They stated that there appeared to be no damage to the vehicle or sign of foul play, though both the sheriff and the Sequoia Valley Police have stated that they have not completely ruled out a potential kidnapping at this point.
As a result of the vehicle’s discovery, the search has expanded into the Sierra Nevada Mountains. Local and state search and rescue units are reported to be combing everything within a 50 mile radius of Winding Snake River state park to try and locate the missing father and husband.
Police Shift Focus To Missing Man’s Wife March 1, 2026
The investigation into the disappearance of Richard Hardborough has taken a dramatic turn as the Sequoia Valley Police have now shifted their attention to the missing man’s wife, Megan Hardborough.
This information comes a day after the Sequoia Valley Press was provided an internal email chain between the police chief and the detectives working the case. In the emails, the detectives inform the chief how Mrs. Hardborough changed her story multiple times when questioned about the night of her husband’s disappearance and became “very aggressive” when pressed for details on what, if anything, they talked about.
We reached out to Mrs. Hardborough for comment, but received no reply. Personal friends of Megan have gone on social media, defending her and posting comments such as “Megan would never hurt Richard!!” and “The idea that Megan would kill Richard is f***ing insane!”
Others, though, have come out against Megan, including Richard’s best friend, Jonathan Baker, who stated, “Richard had suspicions that she was cheating on him for a while. If he found proof and confronted her about it…man…it wouldn’t have surprised me if she did something to him just to spite him. That’s the kind of woman she is when the cameras are off. The whole, ‘If I’m going down, you’re going down with me,’ s**t.”
Wife’s Confession Sheds Light On Case March 3, 2026
Two days after police shifted their attention to Megan Hardborough, the wife of the still missing Richard Hardborough, the embattled spouse has admitted that far more transpired on the night of the fourteenth than she initially led on.
According to police, Richard and Megan went out to dinner to celebrate Valentine’s Day. However, things quickly shifted in tone when Mr. Hardborough presented his wife with a file.
The file contained screenshots of texts between Megan and her long-time affair partner, one Guy Laurent. The file also included photos of them together, divorce papers, and two paternity tests showing that Megan’s two children were not biologically related to Mr. Hardborough.
According to police, Megan admitted to them that she “went crazy” and made threats against Mr. Hardborough to try and compel him not to go through the divorce. Her attorney later attempted to clarify these statements, saying that his client was in an emotional state and didn’t actually mean any of what she said.
Following these revelations, Megan Hardborough and Guy Laurent were both arrested on suspicion that they were behind Mr. Hardborough’s disappearance and a homicide investigation has officially been opened.
Charges Dropped In Missing Person’s Case March 13, 2026
Ten days after Megan Hardborough and her affair partner, Guy Laurent, were arrested on suspicion of being involved in the disappearance of Megan’s husband, Richard, both have been released. This comes following new information coming to light which may explain what happened to Mr. Hardborough.
According to investigators, upon looking into Megan and Richard’s finances they found that Mr. Hardborough had taken out half of their shared bank account through multiple transactions in the month leading up to his confronting Megan for her infidelity.
Investigators also found footage from several outdoor and camping-focused businesses, showing Mr. Hardborough buying survival gear in the weeks leading up to his disappearance.
“It seems clear now that Mr. Richard Hardborough expected push-back from his wife and prepared himself an exit strategy. When Megan lived up to his fears by making threats, he enacted an escape plan and, quite literally, headed for the hills. As such, and after speaking with my colleagues at the sheriff’s office, we the Sequoia Police Department have come to the conclusion that Mr. Hardborough left on his own violation and does not wish to be found. Given this conclusion, we will be closing the missing person’s case, though we ask that Mr. Hardborough, if he hears this, gets into contact to reassure his family, friends, and the public that he is safe," Police Chief Daniel Martinez said late yesterday.
The announcement was met with a mixture of responses on social media. Some condemned the police and sheriff for closing the case too early while others stated that Mr. Hardborough should face punishment for wasting police resources. Still, a few others, including many friends of Richard Hardborough, focused their ire on the now free Megan Hardborough and Guy Laurent, blaming the two for Richard's departure.
We reached out to Megan and Guy for comment on these updates and Megan responded with, “I hope he’s proud of himself wherever he is, the bas**rd.”
Missing Man Found After Ten Years February 14, 2036
Exactly ten years after he went missing, Richard Hardborough has revealed that he is not only alive, but thriving.
Ten years ago, Richard went missing following a confrontation with his now ex-wife, Megan Laurent, formerly Hardborough. During this confrontation, he revealed that he knew Megan was having an affair with her now-husband, Guy Laurent, and that he was also aware that he was not the father of Megan’s two children.
Following this confrontation, Richard disappeared in what police later determined to be a willful act on his part. Now though, Richard has reappeared several hundred miles away in Idaho and, even more surprisingly, he is happily married with three children.
According to Richard and his new wife, Natelie “Nat” Hardborough, formerly Mason, Richard survived in the wilderness for nearly three months before stumbling across Nat’s campsite. After explaining his story to the surprised camper, Nat helped him, returning to her home in northwestern Idaho with her now husband in tow. There, Richard worked for Natelie’s family lodge and, eventually, the two fell in love.
Approximately three years after disappearing, Richard and Nat were married and, shortly thereafter, welcomed the first of their three children, all of whom, Nat pointed out, had their paternity tested.
“I didn’t want him to worry for even a second,” she explained.
When this news was shared with Richard’s family and friends, they revealed that they knew all along what had happened.
“Richard told us about his ‘back-up plan’ before he confronted his ex-wife, and while we were, of course, very worried for him, we understood,” Richard’s mother explained. When then asked if they also knew about the marriage and Richard’s children, she replied, “Of course! We were at the wedding and each delivery. We now go up to Idaho at least twice a year to visit.”
Some have questioned the legality of the situation, including of Mr. Hardborough’s second marriage, but when asked on this subject, Richard merely smiled and said, “Nat’s my wife, whether or not the state recognizes it. She found me when I was lost, literally, mentally, and spiritually, then put me back together piece by piece. No scrap of paper or social media post will change that and we’ll face whatever challenges come, together.”
