“What are you doing Sliver Dancer?” “Huh! Isn’t it obvious Snow pea, we’re just two unicorns standing on a cloud on the edge of a sunset. Any way wasn’t it you that said ‘Questions ruin everything?’ “Yeah suppose your right, hey lets get out of the darkness.’’ Snow-Pea replied, striking his front hooves against the clouds. The cloud re-acted like a trampoline bouncing them toward a formation of pink cloud.
The unicorns stood in silence, as their cloud floated towards the darkest. “Come on this clouds turning grey!” Snow pea yelled breaking the silence. Silver dancer responded by dragging her back hooves across surface of the cloud, causing a rainbow to Catapult them back towards the sunlight.
When their hooves found their footing on another cloud, Snow-pea spoke up “If didn’t know any better, I would start to think that you actually like standing there in the dark.” “How outrageous! First you’re asking questions and now you’re thinking. How could you even possibly imply that I like the darkest?” Silver Dancer answered.
Just then a cloud floated above their heads, Snow-pea lifting up his head piercing the cloud with his unicorn. Silver Dancer watched on as bubbles started to appeared. “I don’t mean to imply anything... It just... Shoot, I don’t how to say this, as I’ve never had a thought before. It’s your eyes.” “What about my eyes?” snapped Silver Dancer defensibly. “They kinda disappeared.” “Oh that’s called blinking.” “Blinking?” Snow-pea inquired. “Yes blinking, it’s when your eyelids quickly closes over your eyes. My eyes blink a little when the clouds turn pink. It’s really no big deal.”
“We have eyelids? I don’t see point in them.” “You’ve never seem the point anything.”“Yeah your right, come on lets make some cloud animal“ Snow-pea said looking up at a bunch of cloud floating above their heads. Again he lifted up his head, and with a leaping motion he speared s cloud, but this time there was no bubbles. The cloud was caught was firmly on his unicorn, and swirled around effortlessly with the swift movement of his neck. Soon the cloud turned into a pink fluffy elephant.
“No you’re right, there’s no point in anything, but I’ve gotta say that was more than a blink, your eyes disappeared for a long time. And if I didn’t say anything, they would have never reappeared, if I didn’t say something.”
“Yes, I guess it’s kinda a normal thing to do”. “Normal! Is it really a normal thing to do! Do unicorn need to blink or even have their eyes close?”. “No, I suppose that they don’t”.“There no excitement in closing your eyes, imagine that you had your eyes close and you missed something, like a star falling to earth”.
“So go on Silver Dancer, tell me what you're up to.' “Okay Sweet Pea you promise me you won't laugh, or think that I've been to serious.” “I'm sorry but I can't promise you that, you're always been a bit too serious, almost normal at times”. “Oh.. I guess your right. I really can't help being normal. I do try to be strange, and I'm getting better at being weird, really I am. It's just that... and know that this might sound serious or even a bit boring, out of the ordinary idea, but I was trying to fall asleep”.
“Why would you want to do that?” “I wanted to dream”. “to dream, why that's the most boring mundane that I've ever heard. Listen to me, that doesn't work at all. We are the dreamt, the imagine, we are everything that doesn't make sense. Things that dream make sense, they play by the rules and take themselves far too seriously.”
“But those that dream are known, they're real.” “Yes and if you were real you would be just a horse without a unicorn, because a horse with a unicorn would be to zany for those that dream.”
“I know that I'm being a little bit to normal-ish, and I should go and do things like not existing, or dancing a round moon beams or maybe I should jump from cloud to cloud and slide down rainbows and puck out a tail feather from a peacock, and squeeze the ink from an octopus and use them to write on the back of a receipt that I'm found on the streets of London, and place it in a bottle, just so the starfishes can read it and be warned that the mermaids are up to their usually tricks. But I can't help wondering that if I could dream just the tiniest of dreams, then maybe I'll wake one morning without a horn. With my hooves no longer in the clouds, but instead on solid ground. No longer been able to do the first silly thing that comes onto my head, but be lead and guided around, playing to the laws of gravity, so that I don't fall off a cliff.
Better till, being seen and known by children, as they sneak me lumps of sugar, because I would need to start eating. As ordinary as that is, imagine being able to play with children.Would that not be better than being dreamt or imagine by them?”
“Oh silver dancer, you're so normal. Say lets travel upon a ray of sun light so we can keep out of the darkness.”
“Okay Sweet Pea, sounds perfectly silly to me.” “Say could go on a head and give me a minute here alone? I just got to do something really ridiculous, just so I can clear out those serious thoughts in my head.” “Sure thing.”
Snow-pea stood alone on a grey cloud in dark. “To have a long blink I just need to cover my eyes with my eyes lids,” he whispered to himself, as he covered his eyes with his eyelids for the first time.
“Emma darling! Come and see, Gemini has just given birth. We have a new healthy foal in our stables. Any idea what we might call him?” “Mum his name is Snow-pea.”
