While Witch La Boo was trying to dream up ways to please the fussy Professor Plumpy, over in the cleaning cupboard, there was a plot arising. The leader of all cleaning cloths and containers of cleanser fluids had planned a secret conspiracy. His name was Rusty, and he had feet of crumbs. The neon green cake was not the only object that had come alive.

His copycat battle call was, "We're in the team. Listen to our Broom. Team work makes dreams work. We must be true to The Broom, our hero. This is his plot. It is a sign." As the greasy yellow dusters at rest on the shelf leapt down onto the still sticky floor, they wiggled like wet worms. They all followed Rusty to march into the smoky parlour. There Professor Plumpy was eating a store bought cake, to tide him over until he could grab the Living Cake.

Witch La Boo dropped her tea cup with a loud clatter. Griselda blinked twice, letting forth a loud croak. The olden wooden broom leaned back against the hearth, and groaned. Waddling, smeared with white sugar frosting scraps, Rusty roared. "His head is too dull. I love a good shine. It is our mission to sparkle his head. Now, troops!"

Professor Plumpy did not see them coming. He was slurping tea, and checking his dreaded clipboard, assessing Witch La Boo for her Witch License. The dusters reached his armchair first, dedicated to polishing up his bald head until it shone like a brass door knob. They climbed the wooden chair base on legs stiff with damp stains. It was a furry wave.

Griselda could and did want to eat everything, so she croaked again. The cleaning cloths clambered upwards until they could start spraying and wiping the grumpy Professor's face and scalp. "We've got a chunky one here, men of the loyal Broom."

"You're doomed to fail, Witch La Boo! Get these rags off me now!"

The quick thinking Broom swept over to the pet cage, and released the Living Cake, who so loved munching fabrics.

"Go get those cloths, pronto!" The Broom commanded. The Living Cake had joined the team. Its drooling mouth opened wide, as it ate the column of cleaning cloths, right up to Professor Plumpy's face and head.

"Finally made yourself do something useful." The Broom remarked. As Professor Plumpy began gasping for breath at all this activity, the Living Cake was nibbling at his skin.

"Yowser! I'll eat you, you magical mistake!" The Professor was not amused, as Griselda was raced across the little smoky room by The Broom.

"Help! Cannibals!" The Professor was really yelling. "Witch, do something."

Helpless, so upset, Witch La Boo could only smile her worst weak grin, waving her wand, which she was still holding upside down. Professor Plumpy's newly shined head, reeking of lemon oil, and nicely buffed, was definitely looking underwhelmed. Shining like a polished mirror, his face could only reflect the panicked look on Witch La Boo and The Broom. She tried to cast a freeze spell on the Living Cake, but it was suddenly into gluttony, getting fatter with each nibble.

"Griselda, eat that cake!"

So the fat ugly toad hopped into action, to devour the glowing worm that had made the cake come alive. The Living Cake immediately collapsed into a pile of delectable cake crumbs. Professor Plumpy and Griselda set about demolishing the fragments of yummy baking. The Living Cake was no more, never to be seen again to Cobblestone Lane. The Broom and the Witch sighed with relief.

The Broom could only advise her. to say, "I told you to add chopped eye of newt. Way too much frog spawn.:

Professor Plumpy patted his newly shining head, and then rubbed his fattening belly. He belched loudly, then announce in his very posh voice, "Witch La Boo, that was the most enjoyable cake I have ever had the pleasure to eat. You definitely take the cake with your frantic approach to mastering witchcraft. Great problem solving. Certainly eligible to renew your Witch License."

The Broom did a small jig, bit clumsy. Professor Plumpy continued, "I am announcing that you and Pippy the Perfect Little Witch are going to be joint Witches of all that is magic in Wonder Woods."

Witch La Boo looked dismayed, stammering, "But we don't get on."

"Doesn't matter," said The Broom, "I can be just a snippy as she is."

"Everything needs good neighbours and friends," Professor Plumpy liked hearing his own voice. "In fact, I want the two of you gals to team up and enter bake-offs together. I shall visit here every Saturday for afternoon tea."

"Oh, what fun!" The Broom looked a bit grumpy too.

"Great broom work, quick thinking. I shall award you the Golden Twig Trophy right now." The bloated Professor raised his personal magic wand. The Broom was immediately restored to the full twigs of his long gone younger days as a flying transporter. It looked thrilled at last.

At that exact moment, there was another quick rap on the front door. Witch La Boo went to see what the parcel courier had left for her household of dust bunnies. Griselda hopped hopefully alongside, keen to hear if there was good news for her too.

"Come, on, read it aloud. Open the box as well."

"This is to declare that Griselda has been nominated to become the next success star of magic pet commercials on television and cinema screens. Congratulations. Please find enclosed the golden key to your new luxury home, The Three Hat Lily Pad, somewhere in the swamp. We hope you enjoy your year's supply of free catering. Only the best will do for you! Take a bow now!"

Griselda bounced up and down, so happy. She had always known she was born to fame. Her tiara could do with a polish. Witch La Boo made her warty toad promise to visit, saying, "Visit every Saturday, the food choices can only get better here. Expect top cakes to take home too."

"But can that fat frog sing?" The Broom was delighted, but still doubtful. "I am going to be your only pet companion."

Showing off her creative nature, and tuneless vocal chords, Griselda did a fattish curtsy, and launched into her best rendition of her hastily written song, 'Born to Eat'.

Witch La Boo could only giggle, even Professor Plumpy could join in the chorus.

"I was born to eat you cakes and biscuits,

Hope you're made for feeding me!

I can't get enough of your sweet delights,

I need lots of afternoon tea!"

Friends, that fat toad could sort of carry a tune.

Professor Plumpy offered to record a duet, finally smiling. "A house of rising stars, Witch La Boo.

Griselda wobbled of, as did Professor Plumpy.

"We're already stars, Witch features, already there. Team work makes dreams work." The Broom felt renewed.

"Staying here," Witch La Boo agreed. "Look for signs. I shall be true to my Broom."
