Now, This Is The Boy Who Cried, "Vampire"
Once upon a time in a huge metropolis called Danville, Va. there was a 10 year-old boy named Jack. He has a problem with not always being truthful about things. His name was Tom. In fact, his lying had reached the point where nobody could trust him, even when he did tell the truth. He also had a right vivid imagination and would think up the worst stories to tell his parents. It had gotten hard to find sitters. That was a horrible way to live.
His parents didn't like to leave him with baby-sitters because he would always end up getting them in trouble by lying about some things they had done to him, which seldom had any truth to them. Needless to say, he wasn't very appreciative of any of his baby-sitters who came to stay with him.
That's when his parents finally heard of a man who was a neighbor named Vince who had just moved into the neighborhood a few months earlier. He was between jobs and needed to earn some extra money. Although he had a weight-problem, the only part about him which was losing some weight was his wallet. That's when he heard about Jack. He mentioned to his mom that he would be glad to keep an eye on him while she and her husband went to a neighborhood watch meeting which they knew Jack would never be able to sit through without being quite fidgitty and getting in trouble. Vince appeared to be a nice guy, even though he'd lived alone for the passed 41 years. Yet his crudentials were good and he had a reputation for being an astrolliger who had a great mind and was quite interested in studying all the stars and planets which were only visible at night after the sun went down.
Jack's parents were both overjoyed to find out that Vincent had a clean track-record. He had never been arrested or even had so much as a parking ticket against him. The only thing they didn't like about him was when they asked him to tell them his age, he said, "Age is just a number. You shouldn't judge somebody by how many years they have been alive on this old Earth."
When they first met, Vincent asked Jack to tell him some things he was interested in. That was when he told him he loved monster-movies, and especially those which had vampires, bats and any kind of scary creatures. Yet Jack thought he was odd because he didn't open his mouth when smiling.
When his folks left, Jack was watching a movie on t v about werewolves and vampires so Vincent came down the steps and saw him, but he appeared to be quite interested in his movie. That's when Vincent came flying over the steps like a bat, and attacked Jack, but nobody was near to hear him scream.
When Jack finally came to, he was lying in his bed, only he felt somewhat different and had 4 sore marks in his neck. Later his parents arrived home from their totally fun-filled and stress-free night on the town. They had been out to the dance hall and to their favorite restaurant for dinner which meant their spirits were quite high. They walked through the door laughing and singing the songs they had been dancing to on their awesome date out.
Yet Jack's face was whiter then any sheet. He yelled, "Him! He's a vampire! Do something! Mom! Dad! He grew fangs! He flew and bit me on the neck!"
"Oh, come now," said his daddy, who was a really logical kind of person, "That's bologna! You know there's no such things as vampires! That's only a myth! It was based on the book, Dracula! It was written by Brahm Stoker!"
"Kill us!" Jack continued screaming, "I don't want to be like him!" Then he tore his shirt off while continuing to scream, "Do something! Drive steaks through our hearts! He grew fangs! I hate him! You've got to believe me!"
"There, there," said his daddy, reaching out his hand to pat Jack's head, but he jumped away since he was shaking and his eyes were filled with fear. "It's alright," said Jack's mom quite calmly, "No monsters can get you now." Yet Jack continued to scream for them to drive stakes through his heart. He bent over, sobbing with frustration since nobody would believe what he said. His mom continued to love on him the way a mom does to her child when they get upset about something. Yet Jack refused to be comforted. As he kept on screaming and crying, his daddy called his friend, Frank who just happened to be a psychiatrist and invited him to come over and talk with his irate and highly uncontrollable son. Vincent left the house to keep from up-setting Jack any more. His daddy apologized profusely to Vincent for the way his son had been behaving towards him. That made him laugh and say, "Hay, it's okay. Some people get a case of schizophrenia. I'm not offended at all."
The next day Jack's mom made an appointment for him to see Dr. Duel. He was a psychiatrist, but they didn't tell him who he was. Then they took him to his house so he wouldn't suspect anything was wrong with him. That was when that doctor got him to talk about sports and asked about his girlfriend, Roxanne whom he had been on 2 dates with and felt like she was, "the one." When he had him in a good mood, he casually brought up the subject about monsters and how ridiculous they were to believe in. After several minutes, he finally convinced Jack that there was a chance that he had been mistaken about the things he figured he'd seen Vincent do to him. That helped a lot.
Later on they took Jack to Vincent's house for him to apologize for his rude behavior towards him. Since one of his favorite things to do was collecting baseball cards, he mentioned he had a Henry Arron card that was in mint condition. He gave it to Jack just to prove that there were no bad feelings.
"Gee!" said Jack, "I'm awful sorry I accused you of being a vampire! I don't know what came over me! Anybody who would give me that card couldn't possibly be all bad! He was one of Dad's favorite players! He told me that!"
"Oh, but you weren't imagining anything," said Vincent with a toothy-grin, "I actually did bite you in the neck! Now you can join the club with me!"
"I knew it!" screamed Jack, "I did see you turn into a vampire! I'll tell! Stay away from me, you monster, or I'll tell my dad that I was not immagining!"
That's when Vincent smiled, exposing his pointed fangs and his long nails. "Yeah, right!" he said. "And who's is going to believe you now, dear boy?"
The end.
