One day on the ridgemont high, I just get out from the class after suspension for skipping. I forgot which button I pressed lately, maybe my arcade games won't work because I forgot about each part of it. My friend Sam just get some gift from some folks around our neighborhood. But me, I don't even expect any of it. But that's fine, I'm a lone ranger who just wandering around, wondering if I get something to play. Just the matter of time, sooner or later, here we go, a play field. "Hey Tony, where have you been?" That soft voice from Josh just whisepring on my ear. He's not whispering, that's just the way he talks. Sometimes I wonder, how this "good guy" can have so many friends to hangout with. Recently I got some friends after I change myself in one year. There is a myth that said only a jock who can exercise. I prove it wrong, it can make something better out of each person who did it, including me. "Oh hey Josh, I heard you just go back from the bible study. How's the trip?" I asked him with an automatic response, because there is nothing to talk about. "Just a common stuff, you know. A campfire, marshmallow and biscuits, combined with some melting chocolate." "Ahh, that must be nice," I lied. "Alright, let's take a look for a Sam." I still can relate with him, since he's probably the one who can do the opposite, whether on me, or on Josh. On the middle, between of us when it comes to misdeed or good deeds.
I really love writing, but nobody look at me that way. Spend some of my time on the gym and doing some volleyball movements I just know for weeks. "Hey remember Father Jimmy?" I just try to cold down situation. "Ahh yeah, now we free from that school," Sam looks brightful. I give him a look of "I told you". But Josh, he looks frown and sad. "What's the matter, Josh? You look so sad," I pretend to care because he gave me some cash from his rich dad. "No, it's nothing." I know he doesn't like to be pitied, but I insist to ask him. "Remember what we want to do after this?" I asked them both. "I think I'm quite tired, Tony. Why don't we just take a walk, see some trees and snows. Record some cameras, probably we get something what we want." His sturdy mouth movements doesn't really matter for me. We just get drunk a little yesterday night. I'm not type of drunk person, since I want to keep it high and vibrates among the guys. In Ridgemont city, there are a lot of trees, rivers, and fishes. Some people said it's heaven, some people said it's mischivieous. I like to play with some soil, throw it to Jack, a jock who tends to be alone, very athletic since he was born, while I did it on purpose. But there is something I don't even realize. Why Josh keep hiding with me and Sam, while both of us clearly different with each other. Ohh man, I really have nothing to do with anything. "Let's get to a movie theater, Josh," I ask him with sleepy voice. "Alright," he said it sighly. It's on 1975, there is a movie called "Jaws". I don't know what that is, but it looks very nice for this decade, a shark wandering around the seas, hunt everything he sees while it's not it's habitat. One thing I still try to figure it out, why it's only one shark try to eat everyone?"
I always try to keep my hormone ups by not smoking and drinking, so I keep my level of testosterone high, and ready to approach Veronica. When we still on the movie theater, grab some popcorn and eat it together, I whisper to Josh. "Hey man, remember the last time we met. You said that you said something to Father Jimmy. Why he lets me out, and both of you with Sam. "Hey dude, we are watching movie. Let just keep it for later."
I don't insist, but I know there is something wrong. Now I even think about Caroline as well. One hour later, we go out. "Let's grab some ice cream," I said. I try to keep as chill as possible like MJ. I train my moonwalk lately, and it fails. "I want to reach out for Veronica," I said. I know these kind of thing can triggering honest words from Josh. He likes to prevents me from gets closer to a girl, I don't know why. "You straight, are you?" "Yes," he said with some doubt on his mouth. That's it, he lied to me. I try to be careful with me right now. Because I know, I need to respect someone's privacy. "Let's get to a shrink," I try to make something up. "Huh?" They both shocked. "Dustin, a guy with a glasses, chess champion in class." "Uh-uh." They both said yes. "He really likes sci-fi movies, including games." Oh yeah, it's Veronica. "Hey, veronica," Sam and Josh try to tease me, it won't work guys. I have too much experience on this. "I think I want to meet Dustin, you're brother. I want to learn how to make a move?" "A move?" She blinks. "Yeah, in that way as well." Sam tries to hold laugh, and Josh's eyebrows unites. "Alright, if that's what you need." I write some short stories to her, and I get recieve some payletter from her, some macaroni and cheese, and some milk. But this time I want to give Josh some lesson.
Alright, so we are in Josh's car, it's very comfy. Me and Sam get closer with Josh after we stop picked on him and stole his lunchbox. And I try to get closer with Dustin because he has a lot of attraction, very smart guy.-
"Hey, Anthony," he said from the inside. The door is opened.
I go in, look at those clean walls and floor. Something I don’t really understand keep lingering inside my head. This is not normal, I don’t usually feel this way. “Anthony, what’s wrong?” Dustin asked me. “Nothing man, it’s nothing.” I learn how to play chess with him since just months ago, and I actually never have any interest of beating anyone, it’s ridiculous for me. I just want to rewire my brain to do basic stuff, something I don’t really understand myself. To keep my sanity, and moreover, keep more connected with both of them. Sam, and Josh; I don’t even know when and how I approach them from the first place and start have some conservation with them. What I remember is when someone told me I never enough.
“Hey Tony, let’s get something to eat,” Dustin touches my shoulder. I sit there, and have a little tears on my eyes. I don’t know what I’m feeling right now. Infront of my eyes there is a taco, that bread rolled with some salad and meats in it, something to calm my nerves. Sam and Josh sitting around the table, it’s round table so we can see each other. I’m feeling sweaty, and I never get to do my balls.
Josh eating it very little by little, like a nobleman with their forks and knife. While Sam since he’s an athlete, he eats it like a starving wolf. I even barely touch it, but it’s very nice when I get the first bite. Dusting is smiling calmly. On in that moment, I start forget about Josh's orientation and keep befriend with him. Sorry it's not correlated, but I don't know what am I feeling right now.
