Fantasy Mystery Suspense

Written in response to: "Write a story that involves a magic window — or a window like no other." as part of Window of Opportunity.

"... What's more, the pixie waved her wizardry wand. The spell could satisfy her every wish", her mom realised that the little girl was at that point sleeping. It had been hard for her mom to quiet her five year old little girl and make her rest by narrating bedtime story.

Early that day was a horrible nightmare come true for the family. The young girl had lost her adored grandpa. The man she appreciated, the one who loved her...was no more to shower his adoration on his lovable little granddaughter. She was too tiny to comprehend what had occurred, however she could detect that he'll be missed always, he will not be seen ever again. She had seen her adorable grandpa for the last time that morning.

She had cried the entire day recalling him, the delightful days spent with him. In spite of the fact that she had spent only five years, out of which she could recollect only the previous few days as she was only a kid. However, it had been hard for her to acknowledge the harsh truth. She just couldn't accept that now nobody would be there to take her to fares and garden on his shoulders, to ice cream parlors, to tell bedtime stories, to shower his love…he was no more.

It was midnight. She was dozing calmly, dreaming a sweet dream. All of a sudden an uproarious commotion interfered with her sleep. She woke up as she got frightened. She realised that it was the window of her room that had opened because of the breeze. The window sheets were fluttering persistently delivering the crash sound.

She got out of her bed and came to approach the window. She stood up on her toes to reach the window to close it. As soon as her little fingers touched the window sheet, a splendid light showed up. She got scared and fell on the floor. Light was consistently blazing from the window and she was confused, unable to understand what was going on.

She was scared to the point that she began crying, tears rolled down her cheeks. She considered hurrying to her mom's room. She got up and was about to escape the room, when she heard a voice. A frail voice of an elderly person. A voice like her grandpa's. A big smile supplanted the dread on her adorable face. She turned and came to approach the window and began looking to spot where the voice was coming from.

"Grandpa, where are you? I want to see you", she expressed her desire in her cute soft voice.

She was not any more afraid of the light coming from the window, as she had heard a familiar voice coming from close by it. She wished to perceive what lay there behind that light through the window. She slided a stool with her little strength and carried it to the window. She climbed on it and put her face in the window till she arrived at the opposite side of the light.

Due to the bright light, she was unable to see clearly for the initial couple of moments. She squinted her eyes to be able to see properly.

Amazingly, the scene on the opposite side of the window was totally not the same. Regardless of her room being on the primary floor, she could see the ground completely covered with lively green grass at her level. She wished to stroll over the delicate grass, so she bounced on the window and to the opposite side.

She amled over the grass with her little feet. She ran everywhere to investigate what seriously energizing lay there. There were birds flying, a wonderful cascade, huge trees and greenary all over the place. It seemed like paradise.

She played with the blossoms and pursued hares who were as white as snow. While running she crashed into somebody.

"Are you alright, dear?" She could hear a similar voice once more.

She slowly moved her eyes upwards to see whom she had bumped into. It was him, it was her grandpa. Her eyes were loaded up with tears.

In a gentle voice she said," For what reason would you say you were not there with me the entire day? I missed you so much. I was so alone, there was nobody to play with me".

She used to play, sleep, and eat just with her grandpa. He was the one with whom she spent her entire day. He didn't let her be alone for even a second.

"Oh my sweetheart!" Grandpa said who sat on his knees and embraced her. He was unable to see the tears in her eyes.

"I was with you always and I'll be with you for eternity. You know why? Because I reside here", he said pointing towards her heart.

The young lady got cheerful. She was energized by the prospect that now she will be with her dearest grandpa, he'll not leave her now.

Grandpa conveyed her on his lap. They went to a close by garden where there were an assortment of blossoms, butterflies and bunnies. He bobbed her high in the air. She was flying noticeably all around. She laughed as she was getting a charge out of everything. She played with her grandpa for the rest of the time.

She nodded off as she got drained. She had cried that entire day. She was glad to get her grandpa back. She had sufficiently played to proceed with remaining the following day. She was certain that when she woke up, she would find her grandpa next to her. She was more satisfied than any other time. She dozed in his lap dreaming.

The following day when dawn fell on her adorable face, she woke up. That day she woke up without anyone else. She didn't require her mom to awaken her. On acquiring cognizance, she recalled what had happened the earlier evening. She began looking for her grandpa all over. She began calling him, "Grandpa, where are you?"

She was unable to find him anywhere until she arrived at that window. She contemplated whether what she had seen the previous night was valid or hallucination or her fantasy, since now daylight was entering through the window and no other light glimmered. She could see the ordinary view from the window. She pondered, got befuddled and believed it to be her imagination or dream. She hurried down the stairs to describe everything to her mom which made her mom snicker believing it to be her whimsical dream.

Do you think the sorcery window that drove her into paradise, the dreamland, was genuine? Was it simply a beautiful dream of the young girl or was there some profound mystery lying around there?

The window really existed. It was the wishing window. It never satisfied the wants of individuals camouflaged as wishes, but their desires that were genuine, that were wished from the heart, that were totally magnanimous.
