My story is entitled Okomfo Anokye commanded the golden stool from the sky and then the sacred sword into the ground that can't be removed . This small action from the past had a huge effect on the future of the Asantes.

Once upon a time, there lived a fetish priest by name Okomfo Anokye. Also Okomfo Anokye was a native of Awukugain, Akwapem in the Southeast.

It can be noted that Okomfo Anokye commanded the golden stool from the sky. It is known that the Okomfo Anokye sword is one of the wonders of the world. The small action of Okomfo Anokye commanding the sword into the ground remains historic and it continues to amaze people from all walks of life within the community.

However, the small action of Okomfo Anokye commanding the golden stool from the sky above and then pushing his immovable sword to the ground at the premises now called the Okomfo Anokye Teaching hospital has brought a huge effect on the future of the inhabitants of the Ashanti kingdom.

The Okomfo Anokye Teaching hospital provides better health care for the inhabitants of Kumasi and its environs.

Also the Okomfo Anokye Teaching hospital provides better midwifery services in terms of childbirth.

The Okomfo Anokye hospital does not record high mortality death rates as compared to other hospitals.

The golden stool is so precious to the Asantes that it seeks to unite them as one soul.

Also both the golden stool and his immovable sword has brought tourist attraction to the entire Ashanti kingdom. Again one fascinating issue about the sword is that although it was planted in 1695 countless attempts has been made to remove it but it all came to no avail.

Okomfo Anokye is reported to have brought down from the sky the golden stool containing the soul of the Ashanti nation. Also Okomfo Anokye provided strong herbs for the inhabitants to drink so that they will become strong and healthy in order to fight in times of battle and war.

It was Okomfo Anokye who helped some of the chiefs to defend their opponents in times of battle and war.

During the times of Okomfo Anokye , a small action of commanding money from the sky by fetish priest was no big issue at all which has now had a huge effect on the future because most pastors dislike the habit of the fetish priests commanding money.

Also Okomfo Anokye then announced that the golden stool decorated with gold contained the sunsum or spirit of the Asante and that the strength of the nation depended upon the safety of the stool. The Asante kingdom was a nation linked together by a mystical bond of which the new stool was the visible symbol.

The Golden stool seeks to supply the religious basis of the Asante Union and has a huge effect on the future and that despite many vicissitudes it still survives today with its unifying power.

Okomfo Anokye contribution of unity in the Asante kingdom earned him the stool of one of the divisions of the union.

Also Okomfo Anokye became the Omanhene (Paramount chief) of Agona in the Northeast of Kumasi.

Again Okomfo Anokye was famous for several miracles attributed to him. Among them includes the creation of the golden stool of the Ashanti people , commanding rain to stop and the permanent rooting of a dagger in Kumasi. Also Okomfo Anokye turned a plantain into a fruit tree.

It was Okomfo Anokye who turned sand into fufu when the kids were hungry.Whilst the kids were angry the great Okomfo Anokye took his bodua with him and then turned sand into a bowl of fufu in a plate.

Others even argued that Okomfo Anokye used his bodua to heal the sick and the maimed of all infirmities and even went to the extent of raising the dead. It was so marvelous in the sight of Oyankopong(Nyame), God. Due to his good deeds to society and the inhabitants of Kumasi , he was made a chief in the Ashanti Region.

Also the four moral lessons from the life of Okomfo Anokye are spiritual leadership , cultural preservation , unity, harmony, legacy and influence.

The laws decreed by Okomfo Anokye covers birth , child rearing, puberty rites, sexual relations, installation of chiefs, legislative councils, death burial, ancestor sand other taboos.

Okomfo Anokye was believed to have used his strong oratorial skills and his considerable intellectual and psychological abilities to influence States to Unite under Osei Tutu and then gain military and political strength which they would use to control their enemies.

Again Okomfo Anokye did other exploits including the redirecting of rivers , restructuring of Asante institutions, the fetching of water in a basket without spilling a drop. The miracles of Okomfo Anokye was noted to be quiet marvelous in sight due to this most Asantes commend him for his good deeds during festivals and other festivities. In hard times , it is the fetish priest who commands money from the sky or from the ground to fill suitcases.

Also the bodua of the fetish priest helps him to solve problems whether wealth, power or health. Some fetish priests by the help of the bodua are able to command wealth or money from the sky into a pot but the side effect is that of a huge effect on the future which can sometimes result in death or madness if care is not taken.

In addition nobody was allowed to sit on the golden stool. Also the golden stool seeks to remain sacred to the Asantes as it is believed to contain the sunsum , spirit or soul of the Ashanti people.

The Golden stool , made of gold stands 18 inches high, 24 inches long , 12 inches wide. Also the golden stool was never allowed to touch the ground and was considered so sacred that no one was to sit on it not even chiefs.

Lastly most elderly people argued that Okomfo Anokye never died but he was called by Nyame, God to heaven and it remains a mystery unsolved.

Finally, it can be noted that a small action by Okomfo Anokye in the past when he commanded the golden stool from the sky and he pushed his sacred and immovable sword to the ground has attracted a lot of tourists to the Ashanti Region and this has had a huge effect on the future of the inhabitants of the town Kumasi in the Ashanti Region.
