High above the emerald canopy of the Whispering Woods, the spunky alabaster spires of Castle Fleur blossomed into the sky like marble lilies. It was a splendid, bustling place, though not in the stern, stony manner of typical kingdom strongholds. Castle Fleur was inhabited by a delightfully eccentric bunch of tiny, fluff-furred creatures known as the Fleurians. They were round, energetic beings with oversized ears and twitching velvet noses, whose primary passions in life were double layered pastries, outrageous gossip, and endless, ringing laughter.
At the very heart of this joyful chaos was Princess Roir, a spirited royal with a habit of losing her crown in hedge mazes, and her Minister, Anneiz, who was theoretically in charge of the kingdom’s finances but spent most of her time balancing spoonfuls of sugar on her nose. The pair were absolute best buddies, bound by an unbreakable tie of mutual mischief. While the morning sun was up, they specialized in dodging royal etiquette lessons and sneaking past the grand archways. Once night fell, they would gather the castle's inhabitants around the courtyard fountain for wild, midnight rounds of Truth or Dare, where dares usually involved serenading the gargoyles or balancing a plum on one’s head while reciting poetry.
One glorious, gold dusted morning, Princess Roir leaned over the balcony railing, her ears twitching with restless energy. "Anneiz," she whispered, nudging her friend with an elbow. "Look down at the gates. The forest is calling us."
Anneiz squinted toward the massive oak doors. Standing guard were Leom, the stern faced Royal Guard whose mustache was perpetually twitching, and the grand Knight, whose polished armor creaked whenever he so much as blinked. The two guards were currently engrossed in an intense debate over a half eaten custard tart.
"On three?" Anneiz giggled, adjusting her velvet minister cap.
"On two," Roir corrected with a mischievous wink.
The moment Leom turned his back to gesture passionately about pastry crusts, the duo made their move. They darted behind a row of sculpted rosebushes, scrambled up the decorative stonework, and leaped over the outer barrier with the clumsy grace of two tumbling kittens. As their small boots hit the soft moss outside the perimeter, they broke into uncontrollable giggles, scampering down the winding dirt path before anyone could sound the brass alarm.
They wandered for hours deep into the heart of the enchanted forest. They chased iridescent dragonflies, collected smooth, polka-dotted pebbles, and made up ridiculous songs about Leom’s giant mustache. Eventually, the path gave way to a gurgling, crystal clear stream that danced over glittering pink rocks.
"Water break!" Roir declared, dropping to her knees and splashing her face with the cool water.
Anneiz flopped onto a patch of warm, velvet moss beside her. "I don't think I can move another step, Your Highness."
The afternoon sun beamed warmly through the leafy canopy above, creating a patchwork of golden light that lulled them into a deep, cozy trance. Within minutes, the stream's gentle hum worked its spell, and both the Princess and her Minister drifted off into a heavy, peaceful sleep.
They woke not to the soft murmur of water, but to a harsh, dry rustle of dry foliage.
Roir snapped her eyes open, only to meet pitch darkness. A thick silk band covered her eyes. She tried to cry out for Anneiz, but a soft woollen gag muffled her voice into a helpless squeak. Her arms and legs were pinned tightly by smooth leather bands. Beside her, she heard frantic thrashing and muffled grunts,Anneiz was trapped, too!
Strong, mysterious hands hoisted them up effortlessly. Before they could process the panic, they were tossed into the cushioned interior of a rumbling carriage. The iron rimmed wheels churned against the rough gravel, bouncing them around in the dark. Roir writhed against her bonds, trying to work her wrists free, while Anneiz kicked furiously against the carriage floorboards, but the restraints held firm. Fear coiled tight in their chests. Who had taken them? Forest bandits? A rival kingdom's spies?
After what felt like an agonizingly long journey, the carriage screeched to a halt. Roir and Anneiz were dragged out, carried down a echoing hallway, and unceremoniously dumped onto cool wooden floorboards.
Scared, shivering, and entirely confused, the two sat back-to-back in the shadowy silence, waiting tensely for their grim fate.
Suddenly, a strange noise filled the room a low, rhythmic rustling, followed by the soft sound of approaching footsteps. Roir braced herself.
Then came the attack.
It wasn't swords or heavy chains. It was... soft?
A barrage of light, feather soft wands began poking at Roir’s ribs. Simultaneously, someone started furiously tickling the soles of Anneiz’s boots.
Wiggle, wiggle, tickle, poke!
"Whose there " Roir tried to screal as she squirmed, writhing on the wooden floor as the mysterious feather dusters targeted her most vulnerable spot right under her arms. Anneiz kicked her feet wildy, let out muffled wheezes behind her gag as the tickling intensified on her toes and behind her fuzzy ears. The sheer absurdity of the torment was overwhelming, they were being mercilessly, relentlessly tickled!
For several agonizing, breathless minutes, the tickle torture continued unabated, until Roir was practically crying behind her blindfold from suppressed laughter.
All at once, a booming, familiar belly-laugh broke out right above them, echoing through the high-ceilinged room.
Hands reached down and untied the silk blindfolds in one swift pull. Bright light flooded their vision. As their eyes adjusted, Roir and Anneiz gasped.
They weren't in a dark dungeon at all, they were sitting in the middle of the Great Castle Library! Standing around them in a wide circle was a crowd of familiar faces. Leom the Royal Guard was holding a giant purple ostrich feather, while the grand Knight stood by with a feather duster tucked into his armor. Flanking them were Chanel, Whim, Annie, and a dozen other Fleurians, all clutching miniature tickle-brushes and howling with laughter.
"We knew you two snuck out!" Leom wheezed, wiping a tear of laughter from his eye as he untied Roir’s gag. "You think two guards can't spot a bright pink cape hopping over a rosebush? We decided it was high time to teach our favorite escape artists a proper lesson!"
"You were trailed the entire time, Your Majesty," the Knight added with a dramatic bow, tossing his duster into the air. "The grand kidnapping was a full-court operation!"
Huffff!
Princess Roir crossed her arms, dusting off her skirts while puffing her cheeks out into an oversized, royal pout. Beside her, Minister Anneiz dramatically straightened her crumpled hat, glaring up at Chanel and Whim with the sternest expression a furry minister could muster. They were fundamentally, officially not impressed.
"This is treason!" Roir declared haughtily, though her voice betrayed a tiny quiver. "Tickling the crown is a serious offense!"
Anneiz nodded solemnly. "Absolute mutiny! I shall audit all your sugar rations!"
The crowd held its breath for a single second. But as Roir looked down at the purple feather still in Leom's hand, and then over at Anneiz’s ridiculously disheveled velvet cap, a tiny grin cracked the corner of her lips. Anneiz let out a sudden, snorting giggle.
Within seconds, the Princess and her Minister burst into absolute hysterics, rolling right back onto the wooden floorboards in fits of laughter. The Fleurians cheered, surrounding them with warm hugs, pastries, and yes—just a few more cheeky tickles for good measure.
