Kayla is a thirty year old african american writer who travels in her blue 2017 Toyota Tacoma towing a small Coleman travel trailer. All of her belongings are packed inside, which is not much. One night, she gets stranded in a dead town; nothing but old abandon church, and some run down houses that no one occupies anymore. Not a single person walking the street. Only but the full moon to light the way and keep her company. The time was midnight, October 12th, when Kayla was driving on a backroad to escape the chaos of the interstate; when all of a sudden she heard a loud noise coming from her trailer. She pulls over into the parking lot, puts on her emergency flashers, and checks what is wrong. "Oh no", cries Kayla, "that was a brand new tire". Kayla doesn't panic or throw a fit because she knows the Lord is with her. She climbs back into her truck; when it occurs to her: "Wait a minute I have AAA, let me just give them a call. Thank You, Jesus". After some time talking to the agent, they regret to inform her that they won't be able to make it right away, not until 7:00 am. Kayla thanks them and says "I will wait for them then". Then the phone goes click. "Welp at least I have a camper to be in until then. Thank You Jesus for allowing me to be blessed with this camper", she says to herself. Kayla gets out of the truck, locks it, then walks to her camper. The weather isn't too bad so no need to start the heater. If it gets chilly, Kayla has blankets. The time is now 12:30 am, Kayla is feeling snacky, so she looks in her pantry and finds some granola, apples, and some peanut butter. "Hmm, I wonder if I got some bread to make a sandwich". She opens her cabinet to find a half loaf of whole wheat bread. Kayla grabs it, then gets a butter knife from the drawer to make a peanut butter sandwich since she has no jelly. She puts some granola on her plate along with her sliced apples, in which she just cut. Her camper comes with a radio and a tv; though she doesn't really use the tv. Kayla turns on the radio for a while to listen to K-LOVE as she eats her late night snack. "Thank You Lord for this food", she prays to God before biting into her sandwich. As she is listening to K-LOVE, Kayla notices that she is next to a church: "Wow. The Lord is really watching over and protecting me. How am I just noticing". Maybe because there are no street lights", she says to herself. Meanwhile on the radio: Megan Woods comes on; which so happens to be one of her favorite christian singers. "The truth is I am my Father's child...", Kayla sings along. She is finished with her sandwich and starts eating her apple slices and granola. After Megan Woods, then its Jeremy Camp - Keep me in the Moment (another one of her favorites). "God, there really playing my songs tonight. Thank You". "Oh Lord keep in the moment, help me live with my eyes wide open cause I don't want to miss what You have for me", Kayla belts out the lyrics confidently. As the song continues, she hears a noise outside. Sounds like kittens. Kayla walks outside, looks over at the front of the church; sure enough there is a box with 3 kittens inside. She closes the door on the trailer, then walks over to pick up the kittens. The kittens are frail and little skittish. "I wonder how long they been there", says Kayla. Kayla brings them inside the camper: "darn I don't have any milk. What do I give them, Jesus?" Suddenly she remembers she has a couple pouches of tuna in the pantry; she spoons some out on a paper plate. The kittens go right to it and start chowing. They seemed to enjoy it, so Kayla spoons the rest out on the plate. They must have really loved that tuna because they started purring and licking their paws. "Welp I guess you're my kittens now. Let me name you", Kayla kindly says to the kittens. The first kitten, a brown-white mixed, comes right up to her feet: she names him Samuel. A second, white, is still wandering inside the box after eating: she names her Grace. The last kitten, gray, is little rebellious, he managed to hop on the counter, playing with the kitchen faucet: she names him Simon. By the time all of this is going down it is already 2:30 am. At this time Kayla starts winding down to get ready for bed. She makes a bunk for the kittens on the pull out bed: the dining table/booth folds out to make a bed; grabbing extra blankets for them to lay on. Once she gets the kittens situated, she preps her own bed to sleep. Taking off her cowboy boots, she jumps into bed. Soon as her head hits the pillow she is out like a light. K-LOVE is still playing the background but no big deal since she has a backup generator. It is setup to where if the battery dies, the generator fires right up and it runs off solar.
At 7:00 am sharp, Kayla is awaken by a knock on her door. She looks out the blinds to see the service rep and the truck reading AAA on it. Kayla gets up, puts on her boots, smooths down her curly hair, then answers the door. "Good Morning, ma'am. I am here to fix your trailer tire", says the middle aged gentleman. "Good Morning to you as well. You really came prompt", replies Kayla. "Yes, ma'am. We strive to give our clients great and timely service. I see the tire right here busted off, looks brand new". "Yep sure is. I just had that put on about a month ago", Kayla states. "No worries, I've got a replacement new tire; That I will be happy to install for you", says the gentleman. "Thank you. Give me a moment and I'll be right out to let you work", Kayla says.
Kayla steps away, goes to the pantry grabs a fig newton bar, an apple, and some triscuits; then goes to grab her newfound kittens, wrapping them in a blanket and heads out. The gentleman is standing there with his cowboy hat, belt buckle, cowboy boots, and a shirt that reads: JESUS IS LORD - "I'll have you fixed up in no time", he says with his southern country accent. "Okay. Me and my kittens will be over by the front door of this old church. Sorry I can't offer you a water, I'm all out, I have to run to the store", replies Kayla sweetly.
The gentleman who's name is Raymond, by the name on his jacket, gets started right away. "Lord, Thank You for sending this gentleman right on time and for protecting me through the night", a quick thank you by Kayla to the God above. Kayla has ate her fig newton and by the time she finishes her triscuits, Raymond is all finished. She walks back over: "Thank you for getting my trailer tire fixed. I really appreciate it" "My pleasure ma'am. You have a good day now", he sounds so similar to Randy Travis just a little bit. Raymond packs up his work truck and leaves down the road. Kayla looks at her watch: 7:30 am - "Wow. That was real fast. He meant it when he said I'll have you fixed up in time". "Lord, You never cease to amaze me. You turned a unexpected repair to a blessing", says Kayla. Romans 8:28 - And we know that all things work together for good to them that love God, to them who are called according to his purpose.
