"Hey yo, Pizza guy is here" Kev shouted randomly before scurrying off with hurried and anticipating footsteps of he and four others; Susan, Savannah, Arham and Tim.

I was having a nice shower. Look, I love Pizza, but who in the heck wants their cold shower after a day at office disturbed with a football game like announcement that fast food was here. Just open the door, retrieve then make an announcement... I could never rule out ding dong ditchers with a halloween season very much turned on.

Once done with the shower, I changed and joined my group which had been together (men included) for 13 years, basically, we had been together since kindergarten. It made me pause for a split second and smile.

The pizza was warm and delicious.

"Domino's does get 'em right when they lock in", Savannah said in her classic foodie sense.

We all agreed, though pizza is hardly ever not irresistible on the eyes and the brain's chemicals.

I, mid-bite, happened to look towards one of the windows in my room which was exactly opposite the TV room where we were sitting watching the Terminator 2; Judgement Day.

"Perfect" I said to myself, witnessing the lightning and waving trees as the window was large enough for one to see through with the early evening light draining down the horizon. It was a beautiful sight.

It all seemed perfect. A bit too perfect. A knot tied in my stomach ( not it was not the pizza). Something felt off. Weird.

Arham and Susan noticed this, "Hey, Faateh, you alright".

"Yeah, yeah. Just looked at the weather outside, Its beautiful", I said, beckoning at the window.

" You ain't wrong. But you seem..."

"Its nothing, guys. When is Sarah Connor coming up" I wanted the attention off me.

This was an evening and night for fun. Paranoia and anxiety should be the last thing to concern them or myself. These washed away quickly when Arham announced,

"We all must stay a night... the weather might worsen and on top of that, its so nice to join up... all of us".

He was right. There was a this sense of comfort and camaraderie in this group of ours. We made each other feel comfortable even though Savannah, Kev and Tim were tough guys of the group with each having atleast two major tournament victories whether it was sports, bodybuilding or chess. Myself, Arham and Susan were not much but we were hard-working nerds... but it never got in the way of our friendships. We saw similar friendships fall apart and even saw robberies and a murder... so... yeah were lucky. My smile was me reflecting on that too. I wish this lasted forever... here we all were, eating, chatting away. It seemed surreal. Its like we were back to being children again. I missed those days dearly.

Anyways, a couple of hours later, once all the conversations had ended, we were completely out of it as all of us lay passed out and the pizza boxes were nothing but bare cardboard with cheese dried up and no longer worth the digging, dangling like some unsightly solid matter, losing its sticky and scurmptious goodness. For me, I was the only one barely awake, almost at the edge of sleep when three things happened in quick succession that immediately jolted me awake from my fairytale sleep. All from a similar area. I sat up for a closer auditory scanning.

I heard the back door's faint clink... I remembered locking it while casually walking downstairs into the kitchen to wash the dishes before the glucose crash hit us all. Then, a closet door shut which was really loud, almost startling me... while the other was a BANG on the front door right next to the stairs. Not too far from the spiralling climb were our faces, puzzled and horrified at the prospect of an intruder when I had taken basic security protocols like locking the back and front doors. I have followed these rules for a long time, memorised them from my time alone in my house.

"Shit, did you hear that? Did anyone-" I yelled, wide-eyed, scampered to get anyone awake.

"Huh?" He groggily sighed until Arham looked towards me, suddenly coming to his senses.

Another Knock rattled the door. This time all of us were fully and dreadfully awake.

We had to check this out... At the very least, I had to. The feeling of dread... that false knot was feeling very real now (the brain plays tricks but after all it is all in our favour). I came up with the plan as if I was a military commander of some sorts. Arham, Susan and myself checked the back while the others checked the front door. My sense of bravery and some elnlightened general were short-lived as we made a chilling discovery with our torches switched on each of our smartphones lighting the way; the door was locked untouched (as I recalled). I was about to breath a sigh of relief and turn back when I slipped over something.

Blood. blood. blood. That was dethroning part. It was a trail leading straight into the closet door that sat comfortably joined to the wall. On the count of 1 to 3 we opened the door. There she was, an elderly woman with a clump of hair on her face who without warning jumped onto the floor with bloody feet. She was chanting something that none of us could understand. She opened the door in front of our very eyes and just ran, locking the door without a sound or movement.

" The others!" Susan shouted and sprinted as Arham and I followed suit until we froze next to the door.

Tim, Savannah and Kev's eyes were white and skin pale but with a strange reddish hue which had a glow when all our torches flickered for a moment... I tried calling their names but nothing came out except a few words in a demonic and inhumane unison and a beckoning finger to us three, with a tilt of the head at the tail-end of the sentence... they were bewitched ;

"Seamen always swim in a tunnel tight... and WET... Some pathways are just too f**ing dry" ( Sick humour)
