Hard as a rock is the stoic man who cannot rely on expressive language to play his hand, preferring to keep at arm’s length that which he doesn’t understand.
In many orbicular rocks, more than one type of core exists. (cd)
What lies beneath the surface of the layers of dense hardness isn’t always discoverable until the probe reaches deep or after an explosion occurs.
Faced with truth or consequence after so much time has passed present sketchy the recollection that once bubbled below the surface and under the so called steely exterior lies no depth and crude and basic superficiality.
IE. There isn’t anything there.
Survival of the fittest oftentimes require fitness and finesse. But finessing the truth in order to avoid consequence requires a dense ness of rock solid stupidity.
Funny stupid or stupid stupid. Comedic therapy in a world gone mad?
Like the old-fashioned knock-knock jokes of yesterday, we seek a ‘lift’ in life similar to seeking out only the fun, the humor in life to distract us from the bad, maybe ourself.
William Shakespeare’s historical research of life and health portrayed through plays.
”In Shakepeare’s era, human personality and health were understood through the theory of the four bodily humors.” (cd)
Cheating death is an impossibility for humans as none of us come out of it alive. Some extensions occur by modern medicine and by God’s grace.
Instead of dwelling in our own misery, we seek out advice and are advised to uplift our spirits. Everyone has a vice. Humans choose a vice of choice with the hope of it carrying them to a euphoric, or at the least, happier existence.
Humorous?
William Shakespeare took a stab at the nature of the human nature. His ‘Four Humors on the Wheel of Fortune’ is a historical correlation of where life lies between health and happiness.
Our health and our fate are often intertwined and humans, as arrogant as we can be, figure we can “play God.”
For example, not to be gross, it is all about the phlegm
Shakespeare found that a person’s disposition can be linked to fluids and elements, seasons, and temperaments.
Phlegm. 🤢 Yuck.
Phlegm was one of the four essential fluids, and its position on the humoral wheel carried specific associations.(ai)
Qualities: Cold and moist.
Element: Water.
Season: Winter (though sometimes linked to autumn)
Temperament: Phlegmatic, characterized by a lack of emotion, apathy, and sloth.
Tortoises represented phlegmatic individuals symbolizing slowness and hatred of work.
Modern-day physicians may currently use the rest of the humoral wheel context as a missing piece in the lives of their patients. The missing piece.
The other three:
Sanguine (Blood): Hot and moist; courageous and cheerful.
Choleric (Yellow Bile) Hot and dry; aggressive and irritable
Melancholic (Black bile) Cold and dry; sad and suspicious
How Shakespeare presented his research of the Four Humors as emotional states that are physically determined. Carried by the bloodstream, the four humors bred the core passions of anger, grief, hope and fear—-Shakespeare chose to present remedies in comedies and tragedies.
Many a neuroscientist recognized Shakespeares’s work understanding that emotions are based in biochemistry and that certain drugs can alleviate mental suffering. (ai)
The Wheel of Fortune of our fate or our fortune rests not only in the palm of our hand but in intentions and consequences of our actions.
Point blank.
Our success can rely on how we attack our day and daily interactions with our wants and needs. Bounce them off of what we can put over on another, and who we sneak in front of in the long standing line of humanity. We foolishly believe we are not walking with our heart on our sleeve when, in effect our bitterness shines brightest when we think we are putting one over on those in our orbicular orbit. Maybe, just maybe, uttering our fears exhibit a weakness. We prefer to walk in our comfortable skin of deceit. Pretension and pretense burrowing below.
We beg, borrow and steal age old remedies in the hope of cheating one another and cheating death. Our cores tried to tell us and those around us long ago by vomiting truth that lying and cheating are no way to live. Continuing to forge stupidly ahead denying death in a way miserable takes the lead. Misery loves company.
We take a ‘wait and see’ approach to life and spit out the contents when they disagree with our motivations and intentions. Health in Shakespeare’s time was understood through the theory of four humors and he tried to relay their meanings through play and stage interpretations.
With dark humor.
He actually used the wheel as an image of destruction, regeneration, fortune, mental decline in his plays, but not as a holistic health model. (ai)
Balancing the good with the bad is left to us still left alive to tell the story of our lives. The ‘specs’ we add to our day are supposed to make us look smarter than we really may be. We suffer in madness when we keep the pain deep in the core of ‘shut down.’ We let fear rule the day—from the strongest looking man to the tiniest stoic woman.
History may inform our future.
In reality.
Nothing is set in stone.
Nothing is set in the rock hard nature of life as any and many of us know it.
Is the glass half full or is the glass half empty?
Who knows.
There is much to be said for balance and flexibility. The rigid fool themselves into thinking keeping another at arm’s length is the plan of the day. Tomorrow is another day, and prefer to deal with what we did today, tomorrow.
When needs meet expectations or expectations meet needs self- growth occurs and self-preservation wilts away into arrogance. The best possibility is when instant gratification takes a back seat.
Fits and starts are at least a start.
Again.
Perhaps this is the way it will always be.
Who knows.
Chip, chip, chipping away at the hard rock may never reveal the core and its contents. Sadly, it may also prove contentment is never achieve able until the truth comes to light the life.
