(Well, hello there!
Welcome welcome and do please come in!
I hope the way here wasn't too troublesome for you? What, with all the rain)
*takes your jacket
(my name is, the jolly good fellow, yes i know, how cliche, but i assure you i am one of a kind)
(Take a seat, kick up your feet, ill pour us some tea yes?)
*gets the tea from the kettle and pours into a cup. Hands to you.
(Now, I do suppose you're here for a story aye?)
*you nod
(Let's get to it then.
Now, where to start? Ah yes!
There was this love story of a young and ambitious city fellow and a good kindhearted sweet country girl. It goes like this…)
“Mary-belle is my name,
This here country livin’ aint for the weak
Kickin up dust and huntin game
Aint got no time for them city folk freaks”
(she was a mean little thing she was, no one was tougher than her on the west side, you see, she had red hair, freckles and a crooked grin)
(one day, she strut her stuff on into town, riding on her fathers tractor, and that is when she saw him)
“Thomas applebee here,
I never thought id see myself on the country side,
And just my luck, on my tire is a tear,
Somehow, someway i wrecked my ride!”
(he wasnt much of a handy man, usually taking the car to a auto shop. However out west, there wasnt one for miles outside the small town. He in his best suit and scuffed up shoes from the dirt road, had a sour look on his face.)
Mary-belle:
“Well suga, looks like you got yourself some trouble!
I reckon’ you want me to help you? You look a little lost
I got some tools in my truck, make it double.
Mind you, comin’ round here you ought to have counted the cost”
(he would turn slowly, towards her, her arms are crossed and shes smiling that crooked grin, he glares at here, she just smiles wider)
Thomas:
“I dont need any help from a lady,
And not a country bumpkin especially
You look a bit shady,
I can manage just fine on my own, really”
(she snorts and hacks up a loogie and spits it on the ground. His face cringes and he crinkles his nose)
Mary-belle:
(she put her hands on her hips)
“Huh, coulda fooled me, nothon’
You come here dressin’ all fancy like
But i bet you really here cuz you runnin from somethin’
Folks like you, dont end up here for no reason, am i right?”
(what she didnt know was that she was right, he had quite miserably spent all his father's inheritance and all of his own money. The shame ran him out of the city)
Thomas:
“Ive got dreams and a mission,
Not that you’d know of it, since youre here and everything
Standards and no wishing
But hey i guess you think you know everything”
Mary-belle:
“You want my help or not boy from the city?
I aint got all day,
I got me some business in this here town, no time to be wastin’ on a man goin back n forth with me
So what do you say?”
(Thomas would sigh and shake his head, and begrudgingly walk over)
Thomas:
“Well i think my engine blew out, i could use some help with that
And ill take some water too if you have any,
Maybe point me in the right direction for some food as a matter of fact.
From the looks of it, there arent that many”
(she grabs her tools, and walks over)
Mary-belle:
“Schooch on over city boy,
Let the big girls work hard
These tools here aint no toys
And youll find you a diner over yonder across the yard”
-(*sees your face)-
(good heavens, what is the matter?)
(“i thought you said his tire went out?)
(ah, details my good man, no need to worry about that now. Leave room for a little mystery)
(“Mystery? I thought she was supposed to be sweet, the plot of this love story?”)
(alas every good story, has its twists and turns, now let us get on with the show!)
Thomas:
“You know you are…actually everything i expected and worse
Loud, brash, rude, and far too confrontational
Never knew a lady to curse
And way to emotional”
Mary-belle:
“Aint you got some food to be eatin’
Or you just like to hear yourself talk?
Cluckin and foolin like a chicken,
How bout you turn around and walk”
(she finished changing his lights)
Mary-belle:
“Least now you can see on down the road and not get lost again,
If i ever see your ugly mug, itll be far too soon,
Now go one get, and dont you get to thinkin
Thats dangerous for a city man like you”
Thomas:
“All you did was some fine turnin, id have been find on own,
As for seeing eachother, on this we agree,
Im not one for charity, nor to give a dog a bone
But to hear a thank you, that id love to see”
Mary-Belle:
“Thank you for what?
You just stood there lookin’ stupid
I did all the dirty work and saved your butt,
All that smooth talk you need to be muted,
Muzzled like a mutt”
(they bid their adieux and went their separate ways)
(“thats the ending of the story? Where was the romance? Seemed like they hated each other to me)
(ah, that my good fellow is the mystery of love, sometimes love can look like hatred. Love and hate are not opposites, but two faces of the same form separated by lifetimes. I imagine love came first from first birth from the womb, and then hatred came in another life reborn from the cacoon. Then the two met each other and merged into one being, and as for the story my dear, it is as they say, that the rest is history. Or something like that, rather.)
(now you best be going, the rain has cleared by now, till next time old friend, and we can begin the sharing of stories again.)
