This sounds completely ridiculous, I can't believe I'm even saying this. But I just witnessed the unexplainable and I have to tell someone about it.
So I was putting up Halloween decorations in our yard. The kids have been whining for a few days now to get them up. I finally caved this morning and dragged out all the decorations. We have some fake cobwebs we like to hang from the gutters. My wife hates it, but the kids would throw a fit if we left it out. I was on a ladder trying to get the stupid stuff to stay when the neighbor's dog—we've told him again and again he's got to keep the thing on a leash, but he never listens—comes barrelling around the house, barking like the world's ending, and charging his poor girl in a nurses uniform coming up the sidewalk. She works nightshift at the hospital I think and walks by our house almost every day at around 11am. But anyway, the dog knocks into my ladder and sends the whole thing topling to the ground. It's not supper high up, but my foot caught on the porch railing and I hit my head on the concrete steps. I must have blacked out for a minute, because next thing I know, the nurse girl is rolling me onto my back and asking me if I know what day it is. I touch my head and my hand comes away bloody. I'm panicking at that point, but the nurse is calm. She got my attention, had me tell her some things i could see and hear, you know the drill. I was confused. Why wasn't she dealing with the injury? But then she explained that head wounds always bleed a lot, and she didn't think there was enough blood to worry about. I believed her, why wouldn't I? I thanked her, she brushed it off, told me it was no problem and then went on her way. I'm not sure what happened to the dog.
So that's about when I turn around. And let me tell you, it was not a pretty sight. I still have to clean it up before the kids get home. No way am I letting them see that. There was blood everywhere. I think pieces of skin were stuck to the concrete. It looked like someone had died there. And when I washed my hair? Not a single scratch. Nothing. Even a scar on the side of my head from a childhood accident was gone. I still don't know what to make of it. I'm literally shaking. My wife will be home soon. I've got to clean up the blood before she gets here. Please someone tell me I'm not crazy? I'm taking pictures of the scene so I have proof or something. I need something to prove I didn't just dream the whole thing.
u/PorchDad:
Dude. You fell off a ladder, blacked out, and hit your head on concrete. Go to the hospital. I don't care if the wound disappeared. You lost consciousness. That's not something you shrug off because you feel fine afterward.
↳ u/OP:
I probably should. My wife is going to be furious when she sees the pictures.
↳ u/PorchDad:
Your wife being mad is preferable to your wife being a widow.
u/ActuallyConcerned:
Please listen to the above comment. Delayed symptoms after a head injury are a thing. Feeling okay right now doesn't mean you're okay.
u/ReasonableDoubter:
I'm not trying to be dismissive, but you probably hit your head harder than you realize and are confused about what happened. You said yourself you blacked out.
↳ u/OP:
Then how do you explain the blood?
↳ u/ReasonableDoubter:
You had a head injury.
↳ u/OP:
But I don't have a wound.
↳ u/ReasonableDoubter:
Okay, yeah. That's weird.
u/Conspiracyman:
Nobody else finds the nurse suspicious?
She just happens to be walking by when this happens. She immediately knows how to deal with him. She tells him he's fine without calling an ambulance. Then she leaves.
And now OP wakes up with no injury whatsoever?
I'm not saying she's government, but I'm also not saying she isn't government.
↳ u/MedicalMikeOwl:
She's wearing a nurse's uniform and works at a hospital.
↳ u/Conspiracyman:
That's what you would expect a government operative to wear.
↳ u/MedicalMikeOwl:
Why would the government care about this guy's Halloween decorations?
↳ u/Conspiracyman:
Maybe it’s not the decorations theyre concerned about.
↳ u/MedicalMikeOwl:
Your crazy
u/SpookySeasonDude:
I'm sorry but "my wife hates the fake cobwebs but the kids would throw a fit" is the most believable part of this entire story.
Your children have successfully defeated you.
↳ u/OP:
They have.
↳ u/SpookySeasonDude:
Stay strong, king.
u/NopeNopeNope:
You said there were pieces of skin on the concrete.
You washed your hair and there wasn't even a scratch.
I'm going to respectfully decline to explain that.
u/UseSciencePlease:
Before everyone starts screaming "aliens," there are lots of things we don't understand about the brain and trauma.
↳ u/RedStringBoard:
Name one thing we don't understand about the brain that explains regrowing someone's scalp in under five minutes.
↳ u/UseSciencePlease:
I said there are things we don't understand. I didn't say I had an explanation for this.
u/TheyKnow:
Don't post the pictures.
↳ u/OP:
Why?
↳ u/TheyKnow:
If this is what I think it is, posting evidence is a bad idea.
↳ u/OP:
What do you think it is?
↳ u/TheyKnow:
I don't know yet.
↳ u/ReasonableDoubter:
A better reason is that its probably not safe for viewing
UPDATE: October 6, 2129 at 11:32 AM
Okay, so the dog is alive. It apparently cut itself on something. The neighbor had to take it to the animal er. Or whatever its called. At least now he'll keep his dog out of my property.
But that's not the most important part. I mentioned that the nurse walks by almost every day, so I was waiting for her this morning. I flagged her down and asked her what she had seen yesterday. She looked at me. I'd never noticed how young she looked before. If it weren't for the uniform, I'd think she should be in middleschool or highschool with my kids. She tilted her head all confused and asked me what I was talking about. I told her I wanted to know what she'd seen yesterday after I'd fallen from my ladder. She continued to look confused and suggested that I had imagined it. So i showed her the pictures. She took a look at it, shook her head, and told me if I'd really fallen and caused that much blood to spill, I'd either be in intensive care, probably in a coma, or dead. Then she wished me a good day and walked away while I was too shocked to stop her.
I don't know what to think anymore. I'm pretty sure it was her yesterday that told me it wasn't a big deal, now she's telling me I should be dead? Someone please tell me what to do.
u/PorchDad:
Okay. I came back because I saw your update.
You need to go to the hospital.
Not because I think you're still injured. Now I'm worried about the fact that you apparently have photographic evidence of an injury that no longer exists.
u/ShinySkepticalSusan:
I'm going to continue being the boring skeptic here.
You had a head injury. You blacked out. You may be remembering yesterday incorrectly.
You also say the nurse looked much younger than you remembered. That's exactly the sort of perception that can be affected by trauma.
u/RedStringBoard:
No. Nope.
I was willing to entertain concussion until the second post.
The nurse remembers nothing. She sees the photographs and immediately tells him that anyone with those injuries should be dead. She is either lying or she genuinely remembers a different reality.
Those are the only two possibilities I can see.
u/Conspiracyman:
THE NURSE IS LYING.
Think about what she actually did.
She found OP bleeding, convinced him he was fine, left him alone, and then the next day denied ever seeing him.
That's not a medical professional making a mistake.
That's someone trying to make sure he doesn't investigate.
↳ u/NormalGuy42:
Or she didn't see him yesterday.
u/LocalNurseVIP:
As an actual nurse, I'm going to say something slightly different.
If you genuinely had an injury severe enough to leave that much blood and tissue on concrete, the nurse would absolutely not be casually telling you to walk it off.
If she actually assessed you yesterday, something about this story is very, very wrong.
Also, please don't use "nurse girl" when you're talking to her. 😭
u/AliensTruth:
I'm seeing a lot of people assuming this is medical.
It isn't.
Regeneration technology exists. Governments have been researching biological reconstruction for decades. If OP stumbled into an experimental field test, the nurse may have been sent to stabilize him and then instructed to deny the incident.
↳ u/HistoryNerd23:
Source?
↳ u/AliensTruth:
Can't disclose.
↳ u/HistoryNerd23:
So no source.
u/WaitWhattt:
Something nobody has mentioned: What happened to the blood?
OP says there was enough blood that it looked like someone had died. But if his body regenerated, where did the blood that was already outside his body come from?
↳ u/OP:
I cleaned most of it up yesterday.
↳ u/WaitWhattt:
No, I mean where did it come from in the first place?
↳ u/OP:
...I don't know.
↳ u/WaitWhattt:
Me neither.
u/DefinitelyNotParanoid9:
Everyone is focusing on the nurse.
I'm more interested in the dog.
OP says the dog knocked over the ladder. Then the dog was injured. Then OP was healed. And now the nurse doesn't remember what happened.
Something happened at that house yesterday.
↳ u/SpookySeasonDude:
The dog is the chosen one.
u/JustPassingThrough:
Maybe you died.
↳ u/OP:
That's not funny.
↳ u/JustPassingThrough:
I'm not joking.
You said there was enough blood that you thought someone had died. You blacked out. You woke up apparently unharmed. Maybe whatever happened between those moments wasn't you surviving.
Maybe you did die.
↳ u/GreenisMyColor:
Sounds like you might have spilled some fake blood or something from your holloween decorations
↳ u/OP:
we dont use fake blood. My wife hates it and the kids spread it everywhere
A young woman in a nurse's uniform dropped her shoulder bag by the door, exchanged her work shoes for her at home shoes, and padded towards the kitchen in her tiny apartment. She pulled a container with leftover lasagna from the refrigerator, popped the lid, and stuck it in the microwave.
Her bag buzzed.
She tensed slightly, head turning. She glanced back at her food before sighing and trudging back to the door to dig out a strange device. It resembled an old Nokia phone, but more compact.
Message from: SarahTechWizard
You're going to want to switch up your route home.

She stared at the device. The microwave finished and beeped loudly. She ignored it.
The link led to a post. From... the man who fell from the ladder.
The woman groaned in frustration and pinched the bridge of her nose. "I can't get a break," she mumbled. She turned her attention back to the device and typed out her reply.
Message from: BerryBlueson
Can't you get rid of it?

I'm not a miracle worker. Can't erase people's memories, just their electronics. Why'd you do it anyway? You had to have known it would cause issues.

The woman plopped down on an armchair shoved into a corner and typed her response moodily.

He would have died.

You work at a hospital. Lots of people die

She leaned her head back and stared at the ceiling, brow furrowed. For a long minute she didn't move. Then she sighed and typed out her response.
Message from: BerryBlueson
Yeah, but this one I could save. And no one's taking him seriously. I'll switch up my route

Stay safe

The woman smiled as she read that message, then she pushed herself to her feet, tossed the device back into her bag and meandered back to the microwave to grab her meal.
