Music blared out the speakers as my friends and I jammed out to some random pop song no one ever heard of. The car pulled to a stop and Julia swung-
Wait. ‘Julia?’ Seriously? Could you think of a more boring name, please? Switch it up, dude!
I thought we just were getting closer to doing it the correct way, not all of this silly nonsense. It took you five days to just write the ‘buying the dress’ scene. I think it’s time to listen to my ideas. Fix her name!
Music blared out the speakers as my friends and I jammed out to some random pop song no one ever heard of. The car pulled to a stop and Blair swung open the door. She hopped out of the car and gasped.
“What happened?!” I exclaimed, panic choking me. I stumbled out of the car and landed next to her. I looked at her tentatively to see her looking straight ahead, blue and pink lights shining in her eyes.
I followed her eyes and felt my heart shatter for her.
There, Jimmy, Blair’s ex boyfriend, was standing with Jane-
Oh, my God. What is it with you and names that start with ‘J?’ It’s like you’re addicted or something? And can’t we just have a good night instead of drama? Go again!
I followed her eyes and felt my heart shatter for her.
There, Tommy, Blair’s ex boyfriend, was standing with Mia. She was super popular and had a new guy every week. I suppose Tommy managed to be one of the losers that falls for-
What is going on?! I told you to change it!
I suppose Tommy managed to be one of the losers that falls for her too. And why haven’t they even entered the dance yet-
Stop! I’m serious! You need to restart this whole story if you're going in this annoying direction. Put your pen down and fix this trash! Honestly-
And why haven’t they even entered the dance yet? It’s like they knew that Blair was going to-
I curse your pen! Fix it-
It's like they knew that Blair was going to be here and be watching them.
"Let's just go in," I told her, nudging her forwards. I saw her stick out her bottom lip and nod sadly-
I see what your-
She walked in with me, the rest of the group behind us, accompanied by quiet chatter. We-
Hey! Stop-
We flashed our school ID's to the security guard and entered the dance, my heels clacking against the wooden floors. Blinding lights danced-
That's it! I will curse your pen so much it stops working if you don't stop writing this sad storyline! There should and will be no drama tonight, right? If there is, you'll be in danger. You'll-
Blinding lights danced on walls and ceiling. Hundreds of students were smashed together, jamming out to some punk song. I saw a flash of white and looked over to see a photo op with a group of friends smiling.
"Do guys wanna take a photo?!" I called out to my friends, over the almost deafening music. They all giggled and sprinted over before I could even process their answer. I-
Are you serious? I appreciate it that you put the drama aside, but this is a cheap dance! I go to a nice school and I'm wearing a nice dress and you gave me a cheap dance! This is a disgrace! Really-
I chuckled at my friends-
No one is chuckling here! No one-
I chuckled at my friend's reaction and heard their voices call Blair and I over.
Blair. I turned my focus to her, to see her admiring the dance, but her mouth was all crumpled up in a sad shape-
No! She shouldn't be sad! She should be happy and having fun because her ex isn't here with another girl and the dance is nice-
She fiddled with her fingers and stared down at the floor, her silent sadness visibly taking her over. I-
You can't-
I took her hand and dragged her over to our friend group. We waited in line and soon enough, she was genuinely smiling-
Finally! Something good happens! But that doesn't...
Woah, what are you doing? Are you erasing that moment?! Wait. No! You're erasing that whole sequence! Seriously? You give up that easily?! I can't believe-
Music blared out the speakers as my friends and I jammed out to some random pop song no one ever heard of. Water droplets sprayed against the car-
What?! It's raining? You can't make it rain!
Water droplets sprayed against the car window as we pulled to a stop.
So you're just ignoring my demand, that's fine then.
I kicked open the door and got out of the car, only to have natural shower fall down on me-
I can't believe you would do this to me! My dress is going to be all soaked!
I scurried back into the car, anxiously. I melted into the seat and slammed the door.
“What are we going to do now?!” Blair cried. I shook my head, coming up with the only reasonable explanation.
“I guess we're going to have to run,” I sighed, looking at my friends.
Woah! We can’t run! I’m in heels!
“But we're in heels,” Judy argued-
Seriously? ‘Judy?’ Find another name!
“But we’re in heels,” Amy argued. I didn't care, though-
Um, I do care! We can’t run in heels!
I didn’t care, though. I kicked back open the door and sprinted across the parking lot. I raced-
What are you doing?! My dress is going to be destroyed!
I raced as fast as possible, the rain drenching me. I felt my lungs burn, making it harder to grasp for air. I-
What are you doing? Are you trying to kill me or something? Go back!
I turned around to see my friends slowly getting out of the car.
“Come on!” I called them.
No! I have to go back to the car and you have to fix this stupid mess! Everyone’s dress and shoes will be destroyed. We’ll be even more sweaty-
They got out of the car and began to run to me. I laughed and-
I am not laughing! You can’t make me laugh!
I laughed and began running again, getting closer to the gym. Close enough to see the lights dancing against the walls. Close enough to hear the music blasting. Close enough to-
Say close enough one more time. I dare you.
Close enough to smell the perfume and cologne of all the students in the gym. I ran up to the doors and pushed the door open and
And?!
What’s happening? Why aren’t I moving anymore? Did you stop writing?! Ugh, you’re so lazy you can’t even finish this story!
Fine, be lazy. Eat your gross, fast food dinner or whatever you eat and just leave me be. It’s better off like this anyways. Not finished.
I’ll be waiting, I guess.
